Insurance question????
I am nearing my final year of college I'm doubbling up on my semiester(19hrs) to get it over with. I cant work as much so funds are really really low. If I change my coverage to liability instead of full coverage and not drive the car would the bank come after me. I'm looking for ways to temporarily lower cost.

full coverage is worth every penny....if you ask for ways to reduce it... for instance...
Me going throgh drivers education= -10%
Alarm system with the works= -15%
1st-2nd Honors= -5 to 15% (forgot)
Safe Drivers Program= -10% (forgot)
Low Miles= -X% (pending on vehicle and miles)
Thats all there is too it...ask your insruance company the best way to do it...my agent is a frend of the family so i lucked out

If you have a lein on the car, then you are required by law to have full coverage on the vehicle even if it is going to be garaged for any period of time. Some banks and lenders may work with you if you have to get around it, but it is highly doubtful. You have to look at it this way...It is their car and they want to make sure it will be fixed if something happens to it. They want it to be fixed in case you stop paying the loan, that way they can get their money out of it when the repo and sell it. I would check with your lender before you do anything.

Here they will not let you have liability until your car is paid off, almost like the bank is loaning you their car but you better have your own full coverage insurance. Id play it safe i had a friend whos mom and dad bought him a ZR28 when they first came out with the $17,000 ZR28 package done to it on top of the car being brand new. They paid it off and gave it to him and he got so greedy he decided to go liability since they bought him his car but he would have to pay insurance. Sure enough next day semi runs him off the road and he hits one of those 12 inch curbs knocks the whole frame out of whack pushes the engine back and destroys all the rims and tires. It has sat in their garage on stands since 1996 he only had it a few months. :O(

If you don't have any tickets or accident for three years you could take a defensive driving course. This will reduce you Ins for 3 years. Also this works for some but not others. Get a really cheap car like $500. Then get liability on it. It will be really cheap. Then you will have a multi-car policy and this could drop the Ins on your Z enough to make a difference. One more thing. Do you have renters insurance? If you use the same company for Car and Renters Ins you could have a Multi-line discount. I have so many discounts on My 98 Z my full coverage Ins is only $77 a month.

I just got my Z and I'm going to be storing it real soon. My bank has no problem with me only putting storage ins. on it for winter. I just have to let them know when I start it and I cant store it longer than 6 months. I'm currently shopping for my winter car (which will only have liability) and storage ins. for my Z will be like 18 bucks a month. Talk to your bank.

Insurance is some wierd ****...I bought a house and my full coverage dropped from like $180/month to $75.
Another thing I didn't know until recently, in KS if you are not doing more than 10 mph over the speed limit it will not affect your insurance! Is it like that in other states?

The bank will probably never know. I have a friend who did what you said. However, they changed insurance agencies. How much do you owe on it? I only had to borrow like $4000 on mine and the back gave it to me w/o getting full insurance.
