How many guys in here are running stock rears?

ace, You'll find that there will be plenty---but most of them will be A4 cars...The shock load leaving the line is not nearly as high w/A4 as M6--even w/stall-equipped automatics...Another good question would be: How many people running 11's w/7.5 rears w/STOCK AXLES? IMO, the Moser axles for these rears are well worth the money. Best wishes. WJ

I did for a few years. bascic freashen every year and new gears every other year.

basic build went like this
Bearings.
Check STOCK axles for twist.
Raytec Solid spacer.
GM gears worked best.
Make sure Yolk was not splined(almost lost one)
Rebild Posi.
Cap it off with T/A cover(only the T/A cover is heat treated)

Fill with 85w-140 high shock load Oil and Ford Posi additive.

I raced for 5 years on that formula. Now have 12 bolt Moser. Moser was a 12RWHP hit on the dyno. I have killed the Eaton in it once already.

BTW I have a A4 w/Yank TP 3,800

I agree 100% w/your "make a 10 bolt live formula". Thought I was the only one out there that had any confidence at all in the stock 10 bolts....Any drag race rear should checked out and freshened periodically. Also starting to read about 12 bolts failing daily in these forums.... WJ

I just did it yesterday a 11.98@118.81 w/ a 1.81 60ft on 10bolt w/ 4.10 gears, also spider gears are still messed up.

well just like any thing else it needs cheched at least once a season SO many here refuse to do a break in also and that is a killer IMHO.

i ran a 11.96@119.77 with a 1.80. i did hit a 1.76 too with my stock 10 bolt. i have the genuine gm 4:10s, solid spacer and a summit T/A cover.

I've been in the 11's once, time in sig. They wouldn't let me run on the spray anymore without a helmet, so I couldn't get anymore. Then my posi broke, for the 3rd time, before I could get back to the track. My best 60ft has been 1.85, I missed a gear though and still went a 12.1 @ 119. Those were before the cam. I still had stock gears too. I plan on getting deep into the 11's once my 12bolt gets here.

I've been running 11s for a year, with 1.6x 60's almost the entire time. I'm trying my luck this weekend with ET Streets.

I just went 11s yesterday. Two 11.7 runs, followed by an 11.8 run. That's an auto with a 3800 stall, Motive 3.73 gears (that are now REALLY whining on decel), and TA cover. Oh, and I think it was the 1.57 60' that the gears didn't like

11.82 at 113mph with a 1.57 60-ft on stock A4, driveshaft, stock rear end and 3.23 gears. I have a couple of 11.9's with 1.6 60-fts also. I do run a TCI 3800 on MT DR's. Car now has over 130 passes down the track and is driven to the track every time (usually 210 miles one way). Sometimes I feel guilty how trouble free my drivetrain has been especially after watching slower cars break tranny's and rear ends, but F-it I'll keep doing it until it breaks.

I've ran 10.95 ,drove it to the track left on 100 shot and drove it home 1.53 60 on et streets its actually my old car in my pic.

just Sunday went 11.88 at 118 in my vert stock 10 bolt.



Both cars are m6's too

The red ss was richmonds and the vert is big end performance cheapest gears I could find lol. Not too much to say about them the red car did have a T/A girdle on it the vert is completley stock.

that's funny, cheapest gears you could find! I am seriously concidering putting in some 4/10's in my 10 bolt after your post how hard did you drive the vert power shift high rpm launch?

It's all in how knowledgable the person is who sets up your gears, ace...as to whether or not they whine or grenade, or you get some good service out of them. WJ.

that's true WJ but after today's announcement about the 13.5 roll-bar rule I am seriously considering just changing the axels and gears cuz I might get maybe 1 or 2 days at the track next year in NY. People seem to think that IHRA won't stand by there decision but I tend to think it will stick for at least one season. So If I stay with the nittos and put in 4-10’s some suspension mods I may cut my 12.6 down to a **.99.

ace, I agree w/Don Kinder. Really do not think that rule will be in effect come start of the '05 race season. You can bet people all over the country are screaming their asses off over this rule change. Plus, the track owners must be screaming to the IHRA rules committee loudest of all, because it's going to take ENTRY FEE money out of THEIR pockets, when they have to turn most of us sportsman racers away because of the T-top roll cage rule. Let's hope they follow NHRA's footsteps and give us 11.49. Keep us off the streets racing w/our hot rods...Everyone will be better off for it. WJ
