I know you guys hate this, but I have to ask...
I have a buddy with a 97 Cobra wanting to race when I get my car back up and running, and i was wondering if you guys think I'll have to spray him to beat him.
His car is pretty much stock other than a ProCharger (he SAYS he's only making about 5 lbs of Boost for some reason) and 3.73's. I know he is an OK driver, and he's running 17" wheels with radials.
He CLAIMS 380 hp to the wheels.
I'm gonna have a 383 Stroker with Stg. II heads and a mild Bullett cam (can't remember the exact spec's, but it's around then .220/.220 .530/.530, and I think it's on a 114* LSA). The only thing that's really gonna hurt me is that for now, I'm gonna be running thru stock manifolds and cats/catback with a flowmaster muffler. I'm running a 9" rear end with 3.70 gears, centerforce clutch and I'm planning on running BFG DR's.
I'm expecting somewhere reasonably close to 400 to the wheels, without the jug.
I have a 100 Shot Kit, but I really don't wanna spray unless totally necessary.
Y'all think I can take him?
Thanks in advance!
Taco

He has to have more than a pro-charger done to be makin 380 to the wheels.
Stock he has maybe 260, so i dont think 5lbs of boost is gonna put him at 380 to the rear. He's LUCKY if he's make'n 330 to the rear! Perhaps he's tellin you 5lbs, cuz he's not telling to about the other 7-9psi

I think you should be able to take him without the bottle but keep it ready just in case
I have a similar problem now and need to know what i am going to need to take my friend he just put his car into the shop to get a procharger on his 96 cobra cause he is pissed i won the last race and wants to win this time.
What do you guys think? Will cam and lt's keep him at bay? And maybe up it to a 125

I can't remember if the 4v heads were as resistant to power as the 2v heads before I think it was 99. Those early 2v heads are fairly well known for being a pain in the ***.
And I also say go from a dig, 4v likes rpm, centrifugal sc likes rpm too. With 17" rims and radials he probly won't get traction if he revs up on launch and his setup sounds like he won't be too much of a monster down low.

I seriously doubt he's been tuned at all also.
And the more I think about it, I think he said he's running 7 or 8 lbs of boost. Not sure where I got the 5 from, sorry!
Also, on my setup, we swapped to 1.9 rockers, which would, essentially, make the cam a little bigger, right? I'm also running a port-matched Holley intake. I'm really gonna try to get a set of LT's and True duals before I race this guy too, but I'm still gonna run cats (I really like the sound of TD's thru cats!)
Think that'll help?
Thanks, also, for the help thusfar!

He's full of ****, nobody in their right mind would run 5psi on a procharger. If he was (with no other mods), that would only be good for another 80 or so hp over his stock 260. The only ones i have seen with the stock pullies run 8psi and above. 380hp on a 2valve is more than just 5psi, he's trying to pull a fast one on you. If he doesnt have forged parts, he'll probably break it anyway in the near future. You should stomp him regardless, good luck.

from a roll you may have issues. That car doesnt make **** for power until 4000 rpms an dit goes all the way to 7,000. Do it from a dig. Launch on him hard and you should be okay!
