Default Hypertech

I am thinking of buying a Hypertech Power Programmer off of ebay. My question is will it work on more than one car? According to Hypertech's website they say that each programmer gets married to one VIN and then its useless on other cars of that same year. Any help would be greatly apprreciated.

HPP3 is for one vehicle only. And unless you undo the programming it stays one vehicle.

If you want an HPP3 for a 01' LS1 let me know I have one I would sell for the right price.

Yea hypertech is locked to one VIN #, If you plan on using the hypertech for anything other than gear/tire correction or shift pts/firmness you should check out some other type of programmer like Predator, LS1 Edit, or maybe HP tuners.

the hpp3 can only do one car at a time cause it stores the factory programming in memory. to do another car, you must reset the first car.

So does everybody agree that if the hpp3 is set back to stock, that it can be used on a different car? (same year)

Bro, save yourself the headache... just get your car tuned. Whether it's a dyno tune or a street tune or both... Hypertech's and the handhelds aren't good for anything other than changing fan settings or gear settings. For an extra couple of bucks, you could benefit much more from a custom tune, and actually make power and get better efficiency.

yea I would get a basic tune or dyno tune. It would save money and time; plus if you get a basic tune with us (@ $150) that money goes towards your full dyno tune when you need one.
