Default help please!

so i was changing my oil this morning and when i pulled the drain bolt out this piece of tubing about an inch to an inch and a half long fell out also. the piece of tube has a 1/4 inch diameter and on one end it flares out to attach to another piece of tubing. at the end of the flare there is a rubber o-ring. could somebody please tell me what this is because i am freaking out as of now. thanks in advance and sorry for no pics.
