Default New best on street tires

Just added a ported tb and it seemed to lean out my car a good bit. My previous best with street tires was 12.75@112 . My best with slicks was 12.55 @ 111.

New overall best was

60...2.00
1/8 8.15@ 89.9
1/4 12.55@ 113.3

Basically tied my time with slicks so now I wanna know what I can do with them.

I have been 12.41 @ 113.25 on sumitomo street tires. Pulled a 1.82 60'. I haven't had a good nitrous run yet. Still trying to get that right, but on a 2.05 60' I went 12.2 @ 107 because I missed 5th gear and just coasted

Part of it is just practicing launch techniques. I do have the 1le suspension which I think helps. I also remove the front sway bar which really helps with weight transfer. I normally Try to leave at about 3300-3400 rpms, and I ride the clutch out. I don't dump it.

Which Sumitonos are you running? Im running the all season ones. The best 60ft I could get with them was 2.02. This was with a glass hood and minus the swaybar and bumper support. I usually get 2.1 60ft times. Maybe with 4.10 gears it would be easier to launch. Now it usually bogs off the line.

I have the HTR + I think. 275/40/17. I haven't even tried taking the bumper support off yet. How are you launching the car? Looks like you really need a tune. You will probably see some really good gains once you get that and a crank pulley. What can do you have?

I have 245 tires on 16" rims. Yeah it needs a tune. I think it would help with lowend power and the rev limiter is in the way. The cam is a old mms 229 grind from Morgan Motorsports in California. They went out of business. THe cam likes to rev and should be shifted 6600+. Right now I shift it as close as I can towards the rev limiter without hitting it.

The weight reduction off the nose helps traction but is nowhere even close to drag radials. It doesnt help much with the inital hit of the launch like drag radials do. Its helps most from a roll in 1st gear when you have some time for weight transfer and the front end comes up. I removed the bumper to also make room for a slick ram air set up that hooks up to the grills. I wasnt able to document any gains at the track cuz the clutch started to slip after this mod. The engine feels stronger though.

As far as launching the car. It needs a new clutch and cant be slipped much before it overheats and sticks to the floor. So what I did was launch at 2500 at part throttle. Id let the clutch out quickly and the tires would spin a little. When they grabbed Id floor it. This would get a 2.1s 60ft time consistently. I know its not the quickest way to launch but it was easiest on the clutch.

Whats it like with 4.10s? Do you get any traction in 1st gear? Or can you ease into it and hook up? Im thinkin 4.10s might be the way to go even with regular radials.

Tiger didnt mean to high jack the thread btw. Just tryin to figure how to get better traction with regular radials.

Do you have a converter?

That would reduce those 60ft's alot

On the street in 1st gear, you can pretty much forget it. I can usually get 2nd to hook pretty good even if I spray it. Ofcourse that was with the 4400 rpm pill in the switch, I think it hits a bit harder with the 3800 pill.

My mods are very similar, but you see my best ET in my sig, and my best MPH thus far was 109.09, DA was -5' that night. I am throwing a PO327 code, and getting 3* of KR right before the 1-2, causing a nasty bog. Other than that, our cars are very close in mods. Your tuning w/ HP tuners must be a lot closer than my untuned set up. Congrats.

I wish I knew what I was doing with hp tuners lol.... So far I havent done any tuning except for part throttle and I cant even get that right.. I seem to be having the same problem with the kr at 4200rpm and up.. I know how to fix taht however as soon as I get my ltft's right.

What kind of tires are you using? I found using the g-timer at the track that the 60' is not as important as the 0-60. I can pull a 2.00 60' and still get bad times. If I run a 4.00-4.30 the time will be good. Other times I run 5.0's to 5.3's.... Sometimes I dont give it enought gas to get going strong because im afraid spinning too bad and other times im spinning lol....

Anyway what im saying is imo the beltronics g-timers has helped me come a long way. I use to not be able to run better than 13.0's on street tires untill I practiced my launches with the g-timer. Might not be your problem but it helped me.

I am running GoodYear F1 D3's, they hook decent for a radial. The last time I went to Orlando Spinworld, I did a 2.084, 2.105, & a 2.089 back to back to back 60 ft. times. Nothing stellar, but fairly consistent driving for the ice rink. I think tuning is killing my car, I ran 13.176 @ 106.78 back in May. My ET and MPH hasn't improved much considering I have done an ASP pulley, LT's & 3" ORY, LS6 intake, and BMR LCA's since then. Not to mention the much cooler weather and lower DA's, -5 recently vs. 1400+ in May. I'm sure that stumble I have between the 1-2 is causing me to lose some ET & MPH, but no way it's almost .5 and 3 MPH.
