A4 to M6 or not
I've searched the tech threads but what is everyones personal opinion on swapping an A4 for a M6. Is it worth the money and hassle? Or should I just go with the TH400? The car is a Street/Race vehicle so strenth is a concern. I just miss bangin through all of the gears and being in control but I don't know if that's enough of a reason. Anyone do it and regret it?

I have been contemplating your same idea but I think I am going to stay A4. I am looking at about 600-700hp with the new motor going in and I know 2 others with my same tranny that have ~650 and have run them without probs. This is important because with an M6 you would need a really nasty non-streetable clutch to hold that power. Yes, the A4 can still break, but it will be street friendly and you will be glad u have it at the track.
TH400 is great, but I would only do it for a street car if i got the OD unit.
I know the M6 would be fun, but that clutch would not be so fun in traffic and stop and go situations. I think most guys will tell you they want to go M6 to A4, mostly because of drag racing tho I think...

Me i am going to do the swap because we are shooting for 800rwhp on a Mustang dyno and there is no way in hell a 4l60e is going to even come close to holding that power........... I still drive my car and i want to stay driving my car, that is why i decided against going with a TH-400..... i know i might be slower with a M6 IF i stayed with the same combo i had but with more HP i will be fine..... and ill be going with a Spec stage 4 and i dont do alot of stop ang go driving..

You can still drive TH400 on the street, just your RPM's are a little higher. Highway driving can be loud, but you can always change out your rear end gears to compensate.
But a properly built 4L60e can handle tons of power if taken care of. I would recommend the Speed Inc Evil III

I did it and love it for all around driving. My sixty's didn't suffer to much...My best with the A4/stall was 1.58 and witht the M6 1.64....But...if I were going to drag race all the time I would've have stayed with the A4.
