Default H/C guys! What MAF are you running?

My stock MAF is crapping out and I need a new onw. What are you guys using? Stock, SLP,etc... Screen no screen? Ported ends? Do I need a different lid if I use a 85mm one?

I'm using a TSP lid, 85 mm Z06 screened maf, and SLP bellows combo I got from TSP.

Non-ported ends.

I also loaded a Z06 screened maf table into the pcm.

Why is your stock MAF "crapping out" (or, why do you
believe so)?

Stock MAF, descreened.

Ran ported ends with the stock internals setup, switched to the stock ends for the H/C to make life easier on my tuner

100% Stock MAF. Tried the GMAF and the Pace LS6 MAF. No luck.

Been using the Pace descreened 85mm LS6 MAF since my stocker died at 10K miles. It's calibrated for the LS1 and I have had no issues related to the MAF. In fact when my factory one bit the dust it was recommended to me by Mikey owner of Rapid Motorsports.

While getting tunned, my tuner said that the MAF was reading WAY low! He said it was reading around 285 GPM, and it should be around 400+?

Might try the quick trick of cleaning the wires with some spray cleaner for electrical contacts. They may be oiled up a little.

Also I hear ALOT about screen no screen??? I know the screen straightens the air but I hear it is not recomended for street use? Do I need any special bellows or anything if I go to a 85 mm MAF? Im having trouble getting the car tuned with this MAF The car has lost at least 20 ft lbs of torque and should be putting out 10-20 more rwhp! Just wonder if the maf could be part of the problem? I asked in the tunning section and got no replys.

Sounds like there is definitely a maf problem.

It will be easier to tune with a stocker.

Taking the screen out or porting the ends will make it read differently. A good tuner can probably work around it.

A new stock maf would be more than enough, getting a bigger one won't make it run any stronger.

If you're intent on a bigger one, just get the corresponding maf table for it, and the tuning should fall right in line. (one of the z06 pieces, screened or unscreened)
