Default What intake manifold for my H/C setup on a C5? LS6, LS2, LSX 78 vs 90mm?

Hey guys I have a 99 C5 with the stock LS1 intake manifold. I am waiting to install my heads and cam setup here soon. But waiting until I gather the parts to do it right.

I'm going to need an intake manifold of some sort, and I'm unsure on the best setup for me... The one that will give me the best bang for the buck. I'm not gonna spend an extra $500 for 2-5 hp. I need some real world info..

What do you think LS6, LS2, LSX 78 or 90?

I already have a west coast corvette's ported TB on the car and I could use that with a LSX 78MM intake or an LS6 intake. Or sell my TB and buy something else... An LSX 90mm intake or the LS2 intake could use the C6 90mm LS2 TB which is a direct bolt on pretty much. LS2 intake would be a direct bolt on with the LS2 rails and o-rings, but I havent heard many good things about the LS2 setup. LS6 and LSX seem good, but dont know whats the best for the money or whats right for me.

Here's the setup:
1999 LS1 shortblock
Stage 2 ported 241 castings done by CNC cylinder heads. (2.055, 1.60 REV valves, comp 918's, tit reatainers, etc..)
Comp XE-R cam 224/228 .582"/.588" 113 LSA
StainlessWorks 1 3/4" longtubes, 3" offroad X and Corsa's.
ASP underdrive pulley (to be installed with heads and cam)
WCC 1030cfm ported TB
WCC ported MAF with dual cone K&N kit.

What do you think about the setup? What should I do? What will it do?

I need some opinions on this one. I really appreciate the help
Thanks
Steve

I say the FAST 90/90 is going to give you the most gains, but no more power than you will be making, a LS-6 should do just fine. If you haven't bought those heads yet, I'd look elsewhere.........

I gained 27rwhp & 13rwtq with my 90mm FAST intake and 90mm TPIS T/B over my LS6 intake and ported T/B, this is on a stage 2 Absolute Speed heads and a B1 cam 221/221-.559/.559.

This is very interesting.....hmm....

Keep the info coming guys... I really want to see what the consensus says... I always thought the 90 mm setup would be too big for a H/C car with stock 346 cubes..

I have the heads and cam already. My friend had them on his car for about 900 miles. They are brand new. He went to a large AFR setup with his blower, so changed them out and I got a hell of a deal. AFR is too much $$$ for me at the moment. This setup ran really well on his car...

Thanks so far and keep the opinions coming...

You are all over looking one other option and that is our modified LS6 Intake. We cut the entry off and replace it with an extrusion that allows us to put our billet oval tb on. This combo will out perform all the others in overall power production from 2500 to 6500. I know this is hard to believe but I have tested it on several different engines. it you are looking for max power from 5800-6500 then the Fast with our 90mm tb is the best. If you are looking for great throttle response and up to 15 lb ft more torque from 2500 to 5500 you may want to consider our oval. The manifold mod is $400.00 exchange

remember it is area under the curve that make cars quick.

The LS2 TB on the vette are by far the best thing out there! They wire up and idel like a champ. Plus its much cheaper than the TPIS or the Nick willams 90mm Vette TB's.

We just put a 90mm LS2 TB a 85mm MAF and a 90mm FAST intake on our customers 427cid 99 Vette. It went from 470 RWHP 460 RWTQ

To 515 RWHP and 480 RWTQ! With tuning! Call me for a sweet deal on a 90mm LS2 TB for your Corvette!

I suspect that because we are a bigger is better society that is why. When I came out with oval the FAST intake was a rumor and people were waiting to try it. Some of those that went with FAST have come back and bought the oval. The FAST will make a big peak power number on a 383 or larger motor.,if that is what you want We just ran a 427 with ls-1 heads with both intakes. the FAST produced 570 average lb. ft. and 585 average hp. 4300-6500. The TPIS OVAL produced 573 average lb. ft. and 598 average hp.over the same rpm band.

peak torque FAST 599LB.FT. TPIS 611 LB.FT.
peak hp 658 hp 649 hp

With right gear box in a race situation it would be a tough call which to use, as a rule hp wins but many times getting off the corner is more important.

The price is $400.00 modify ls/6 and $500.00 for the tb exch.
Happy holidays
