Should i buy 01 SOM T/A
I have 87 iroc now and plan on keeping but want something faster than low 15s. Also need good gas mileage so ls1/t56 seems to yield 26mpg on hiway and about what i get hiway now(3.73/700r4) in the City.
Its got 24,000miles from a dealership @ 18,900 with warranty(?).
Its black leather with 6speed car.
Is this a good deal?

This may go without saying but have a good mechanic check it over for any problems whatsoever and run a carfax on it. Also run a check on dealership computer for any warranty work ever done on it just to know what your getting. SOM is an awesome color and M6's rock!! Good luck!!!

Go with a knowledgeable friend (or someone local from this board) before buying it to check it out...then buy it!
And also, think of the audience you are asking. What do you think we're gonna say to a question like "Should I buy a SOM T/A?" Duh.

Sounds like a fair deal. I bet that price isnt too far from book though. (unless it's a WS6) Find out when the warranty will be up. In october I got my 02 Z with just over 25K on it for 15,750. My warranty expires Sept 1 of '05. SOM is a great color. Do your homework.

SOM is wonderful, when it's polished and waxed well (as it should be) it looks spectacular and people take second looks at my car everywhere cause it seems to appears to be a custom paint job to the average citizen while most of us know its one of the rarer color choices. It almost looks better on a TA than on a Z though IMO. Post a pic when you get it!!

The dealership is bigger name dealer, on window sticker it has passed this and that, and has carfax logo certified thing i would think. But i have never gone up there when its open ive looked at at least 7 times in the last 2 weeks. Not to mention I see for 2 secs on the highway on my way to work everyday.
Its not ws6, its got chrome 16s that are perfect cond. lip with no sign of scratches or weights hammered on. Other than that tires are goodyear but dont look oe. 9-10/32ths treadBrake pads look thick.
I noticed one chip in paint on the pass side headlight at very edge. other than that it looks perfect body wise.
I would like to get it on lift and check the underside.

Go for it, I got the same thing about 1 year ago. 2001 SOM T/A 23k miles for $18,000. They were asking $19,900 but I talked them down.
It had/has some door dings and scratches here and there but it's getting fixed as I go.
Here she is 1 year later with some 17" Firehawk wheels and a Raptor hood:
Peace,
Craig.

that is prestine and is exactly what i would do too, if i have the money.
I just got two more used take offs yesterday at work 255-45-17 gforce KDWS. ones got excessive outside tread wear but its not show secondary rubber yet and for the rear it wont matter.
2months ago put set of gforces on c4 and got two nice 255 45 17 yokohama something.
So all need is wheels. How much are the firehawks 17x9?
My sister wants the 16" for her v6 camaro for 400 bucks w/tires.

I got it!!!
16000 because it was the end of the year and it was a Cadillac mazda dealer.
That was trying make room. i guess but when i told him 15,900 he said no way then when went to talk to salesmanager. Came right back out said lets do it.
there was a ton of people buing cars. It took for ever and i was about ready to scream i was so excited. but when they gave me the keys and it had to be washed and cleaned. i just kept telling myself it was going to be worth it.
It was cause when wound it out 5grand and shifted into 2nd and i was at 60 something i was hooked that car is awesome fast. Next to a c5 its the fastest car ive every rode in. Ive drove 99 SS camaro lots of other ls1 cars, this week i drove M5 w/10000 miles on it Denin Exhaust Dual Carbon fiber cold air induction. Sl500 mercedes but only in the Autotire parking lot.
I could never get on it.
By car is so fast compared to my 5.0tpi/auto IROC with hooker catback 3.73 gears eaton posi. i lost really lowend grunt but after 2500-3000grand its choking. and now my Ta screams all the way to 5500rpm. thats awesome i love it.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
i definetly get pics tomorrow after another wash and maybe wax.
