Default GTO or keep my TA

A friend of mine at a local performance shop here intown put the idea of me trading my car for a goat, i've been thinking about it all night. Any of you guys done this and happy with the result. A new car would be nice, but with the money i'll end up spending on the GTO my car could be mint w/some more kick. Other than the interior what do you guys like about your cars? Im torn between my car and a goat. and the 5500 of sticker ends on the third so i have to decide quickly

Well, heres my take (keep in mind Ive never owned a T/A) I used to have a 03 Mustang GT. Now not that the GT is even in the same class as the T/A, just that they are both, more of a bare bones, engine, seat, wheel go kinda cars. I HATED the Mustang, it felt cheap, loosely put together and of course weak. I just got my GTO yesterday and Im in love. The interior is unbelievable, rivals a coworkers M5. Of course the LS1 is awesome. According to my dad "That mustang just felt hollow, this sucker has got some *****!" I think youd be happy either way, you just have to decide what you want, a super fast car w/ decent ride, interior etc, or a really fast car w/ a great ride, interior etc. Sure you might lose to a T/A here and there, but everybody will want to ride back to town w/ you.

Keep the 'bird....and continue to mod it how you've planned, and then buy a nice used GTO a few years down the road as a daily driver.

Defintiely keep the bird. You could get a twin turbo 408 or something equally as ridiculous with that much money.

i was also thinking the same but its not worth it unless its an '05 and even by then th money you paid extra for the GTO you can spend on mods on the bird.

Yea, i really like my car, so you guys would rather revamp the interior (its getting worn), hood, wheels, and mod up then engine rather than get a goat?

Whoops, Didn't mean you were stupid, was just with ya on your comment.

The 05 GTO is going to be a beast, but it would be cheaper for you to just keep your bird and do what you want to it. No car payments is a good thing, and more $$$$ towards your bird. I was thinking of selling mine, but think I've convinced myself other wise.

As in my sig, I had a 2000 Z28. My new GTO feels as fast. There are no rattles inside or out. The IRS really keeps the rear end planted instead of getting loose. I'm 6' and I can fit 6' people in the back seats. The overall build quality is far superior to an Fbody. It's also nice to be the only one with a GTO on the road. I get people doing double-takes everywhere I drive. It's not a run of the mill car. I couldn't be happier!!!!!

No offense taken....I thought it was kind of funny.

Now that you've mentioned no car payments, I have to agree that not having them is a great thing. Just paid my 'bird off in November, and have been enjoying the "extra" funds. That "extra" money can buy a lot of mods.

Ill agree big time on the getting double takes. Ive had the car for 3 days. Ive had lifted, lowered trucks etc before and Ive gotten more looks and double takes in the past 3 days than in any of my previous vehicles combined. Its odd since the GTO is supposedly a bit of a sleeper.
