Default EVO vs. LT-1

A buddy of mine just bought a 05 evo and i was wondering how i would do against him with my 4.10 gears and full exhaust on my LT-1?

i dont no but i did see a lt-1 beat a evo at a street race all the guy have was 150 shot and some racing slick's that lt-1 pulled away from the evo real quick! i would say get some juice/slick's and practice on launching.

from a dig it'll be pretty even. watch out if he knows how to launch the car. run him from a roll and you should have no problem with him.

Your gonna have a problem from a dig unless you hook really well. That AWD of those Evos lets them launch like crazy!

I have similiar mods and I beat an evo no problem. I launch real soft on street tires...I'm talking like a little less than 2000 rpms and just dump and punch. If I clean the tires off decent enough it won't spin till I punch it but then when I nail second I am ok. Anyways he jumped about a car and a half out on me but by the top of second we were even and then through third I put approx two cars on him and by the time I let off in fourth it was three-ish to four...don't really know how to gauge it cuz I'm looking at my tach and not in the rear view mirror. Just make sure you have some practice at launching the car on street tires and you dont get nervous or anxious and just spin the tires. Good luck...you got him.

P.S.-This was after I got my LT4 heads/Intake. I don't really know if I am making anymore power than I was before but it feels stronger. BTW my times in sig are w/o LT4 heads.

When you say "full exhaust", does that mean headers back? If so and your car is an M6, then I say it will be close. Slight edge to the EVO. My .02.

If I am not mistaken, this guy has full exhaust (LTs and Catback). He made a thread about beating a bolton 02 A4 Z8 if I am not mistaken. Its a pretty stout LT1.

Hopefully it runs stout, if not... I HIGHLY doubt an exhausted LT1 would beat the Evo.

There was a stock Evo here in OC that ran 13.1's... their no joke, honestly. Stock boost is able to be pumped up quite a bit, from what I hear. (Just by using a boost controller?) not sure about turbo stuff, but I know their pretty mean on the street if the guy knows how to launch it.

First off i am the guy that posted that race but the ls-1 had a lid and a catback. Secondly, most of my friends and my buddy with the evo included think that i am a really good driver. Hell ive raced plenty of AWD cars before and the most that i have ever gotten pulled out of the hole is by about a half a car. You guys make it sound like he is gonna totally kill me. My car by no means is a slouch, the best time to date in my car is 13.34@106.9mph at route 66 raceway in joliet. So maybe it would be close but i doubt if he will flat out kill me.

LT1 wins end of story, i walked a EVO hard on the highway in my old 93 Z28 AUTO with me starting in 3rd gear from a 65 punch!(i had cai, and a a cut out) we even did a stop he got out ahead but right about 65mph i walked on bye. You should have NO problem beating this evo

Man... some people. Look up specs as well as race someone in an Evo that knows how to drive. Yes, a stock EVo DOES have the capability to beat a Stock LS1 on the street, also vice-versa. I don't think that your LT1 will pull a 13.3 on the street, I'm sorry dude but traction can't be that outrageous on the street. If he does nothing to his car, it will be a good race, if he knows how to drive it. If he gets a Boost controller and maybe just turbo-back exhaust, your lt1 will/would be beaten.

EDITED: Depending on your elevation and climate, this will effect the race drastically.

On the contrary I was defending you. Like I said if you hook you should do OK but the Evos AWD is a force to be reckoned with.

the only way the EVo will pull a 13.3 is with a HIGH rev luanch, i believe they trap under 100mph, most owners won't try to kill the clutch everytime, as long as you don't let him get more than a car or 2 on you out of the whole you'll have no problem running him down.

They do not trap under 100 mph. If they do, its becuase of driver era! **** if Road and Track can pull 102, I know there are more skillfull drivers other than them.
