Default i wanna get new headers, help me out

i want to get rid of my pacesetter headers (i dont want the emission tubes) and i am trying to find a good deal on some really good headers. i was looking at qtp race style headers. i think it said like 775 for it all. i have been searching on this and have a hard time finding my answers so this is why i decided to post. is there any other header that i can get that performs and holds up great that i can get a good price on? let me know where i can get them if so. thanks

hmmm, i see kooks are cheaper and read they are good. also, what size should i go wtih? 1.75 or 1.875? f13 cam and afr 205 heads on stock bottom end

and will the pacesetter ypipe fit on the headers until i can get a new and better one?

I personally love my Kooks headers, but I think you'll find more people on here that are really hung up on QTPs, and for good reason. Both companies make excellent products. Both are of a similar design, and both will put down great numbers. Get whichever one is cheaper, and I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. The clearance on my setup is great...no problems with the oil drain plug or filter, I have never scraped them, and I didn't have to remove/loosen anything other than the stock manifolds to get them in.

With your setup, stay with the 1.75" primaries. Get the 1.875" primaries if you have goals of bigger cubes down the road.

Yes, they are both of the same quality. They will both put down similar numbers as well, unless you get the HVMC's on the QTP headers(a $500 option btw). I got my entire setup used, Kooks 1 3/4 SS, and the Kooks ORY for 725 total. Setup had a total of like 5k miles on it, looked great. SS holds up great....just discolors a bit. I've had mine on a week and they already have a nice tint to them

This isn't a really good shot of the headers (Kooks), but you can get the idea...

Eventually, I'm gonna paint them with Por-20 or something, but not for a while.

I like my Jet Hots. No rusting issues yet.

Yep, it is just a goldish color...if it looks nasty in that pic, that is because it was enhanced by the flash on my camera. It is the same color the band clamps there turned...the other band clamps I have further back are still nice and silver.

sometimes gold sometimes blue...kinda oily color i guess at times...but do get a bit of gold.

i went with QTP but thats just because ive heard there welds are better...and slightly lighter...and i think they are said to be a LITTLE bit longer then Kooks but tuck up the same none the less.

go Kooks if you wanna save some cash.

either would be an improvement on the pacesetters right, i would imagine a big one since my whole set up cost the price of just kooks headers

I opted for the QTP's since the Y-Pipe is better. I have had mine for 6 months and no rust. I also got the race headers and they fit perfect. My QTP's do not have the goldish tint. They have a brown tint like the stock Y-Pipe did. I can drop the transmission with removing the QTP Y-Pipe. Real nice for the A4 guys.

You really should define better...if by better you mean because it uses an acutal merge collector, you'd be correct. The Kooks y-pipe didn't have that. If by better you mean "goes on easier," I'd probably have to disagree on that one. Their y-pipe is known to be a jigsaw puzzle that takes a lot of work to get adjusted right compared to the Kooks y. I think they both tuck about the same, with maybe a slight edge to the Kooks piece.
