Default LS6 Cam Question?...

From what I understand the 2000 and newer model Camaros/TAs and a couple of other cars come factory equiped with the "LS6" intake.

My question is what models come factory equiped with the "LS6" cam?

I am looking to put one in my 98 SS and I am just wondering where I can look to pick one up used.

TIA

only 01-02 came with the LS6 intake manifold from the factory, and no F-bodies came with the LS6 cam from the factory.

alot of people don't think that the LS6 cam will gain you enough horsepower to be worth the trouble of swapping cams. it is my understanding that you'd only gain about 15 rwhp. and trust me, it is ALOT of work!

but if you want one you can usually find a couple for sale here in the for sale forum. just do a search.

hope that helped alittle.

They are up for sale quite a bit in the classifieds section. Or you can get them from Scoggin Dickey for around 200 brand new.

It is not worth it IMO. GO with something bigger. I have had a lot of cams. I like my cams a little on the lopey side but also i like the car to start on the first try. Something on a 114lsa is good. The ls6 is to small IMO to be worth a 3-4 hour swap. Unless you have 2 guys working at it then it is a 1-2 hour swap.

I would love to have a cam with a little chop to it as well, but LS1 cams are pricey! I want to stay on the budget side of things, the car is a turbo car as well.

If not the LS6 cam, what cam would work good with the turbo. It is a rear mount setup running 10 #s, it makes 466/504 all stock with the exception of the turbo and injectors. It is an A4 car as well, with a Yank SS 36000 converter and 3:23s.

TIA

I totally understand being on a budget, but think of this -
You spend say 300.00 to put a cam and springs in the car that you never really wanted because you got a deal on them. It doesn't do what you want, so later you spend 700 to get the cam/springs that you really wanted. Now a 700 dollar swap cost you 1000 dollars and you run slow because you didn't spend the other 300 on slicks. I know my math isn't perfect here, but it's just something to think about IMHO. If you really want to make it move, I would call one of the sponsors like Futral and ask them what they recommend.

In that case the ls6 cam is worth a try. I did not know that u had a turbo on the car. I hae head of the ls6 cam being a kick *** turbo cam.
