Default 400 hp

o.k. i am pretty close to the 400rwhp mark, and was woundering you all had any sugestions that would help me get there. my car made 384rwhp, and my goal was to try to do 400 without any head work or nitrous. the current mods are:LS6 INTAKE, LS1MOTORSPORTS LID, P&P TB, SLP SMOOTH ELBO, PORTED MAF ENDS, TR 224 CAM, COMP 918 SPRINGS, CHROME MOLY PUSHRODS, PORTED LS6 OLI PUMP, ROLLMASTER 2X TIMMINGCHAIN, SLP LONG TUBES, CARSOUND CATS, AND FLOWMASTER CATBACK.so if anyone can think of what will help me out please let me know, and the car is a 6 speed.

Add a set of Cut-out in front of the cats. Your exhaust from the cats on back is pretty restricted.

Could always go with a bigger cam.... something that will still match up with the comp 918's. Drop the cats and ditch the blowmaster and you might get there without even changing the cam.

Maybe you forgot to mention it but you could add a ASP pulley. I'm hoping for 400 at the wheels also. I'm getting a few things installed this weekend I'll let you know if I get 400 when I dyno.

asp pulley is usually worth around 10 rwhp. i gained 20rwhp with a cutout. get a cut out, asp pulley, and ditch the cats and youll be over 400rwhp easy.

Chris - did you already tune your current configuration? Sorry if I missed it, but that's where I'd go next.

Definitely need a tune if not already....I would have thought you would have been at 400hp already with those mods.

yes flowmaster sucks *****. Get rid of that crap, drop the cats, add a ASP pulley, cutout at the I pipe, and tune if you don't already and you will reach 400rwhp.

I'm not going to get into the "Flowmaster Sucks" argument here. My car still made good power with it.

If your not tuned, I think a cutout and tune will get you 400 or more. Cutouts are cheap and with the flowmaster I think a cutout will net you a nice gain.

An extra 5 or so hp is not worth the money and the swap to me. I've seen the dyno sheets where an F-Bod gained 7 hp from a stock exhaust to the Flowmaster Cat-back. I like the way it sounds and I'm satisfied with it.

The guys at the muffler shop thought I was crazy when I got rid of that Blowmaster crap. They said my car would sound like crap. I liked it when they are wrong. They were really impressed with the Dynomax, and I am pretty sure it was worth a few ponies.

im not badmouthing flowmaster but with a cutout and no cats he would be at 400rwhp. its hard to make high dyno numbers with restrictive exhaust. ive never seen a dynograph that was higher going through full exhaust over a cutout.

I agree, a cutout is obviously going to make more power. My point is, I would have thought he would have already been at 400hp with his given mods, regardless of the cat-back. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

Another User, if you like the Dynomax better, then that's good for you! And it very well may be worth a few more horsepower. I just don't feel it necessary or practical in my situation to spend the money for another cat-back just because it may free up a few more hp, especially given how much I like the sound of the Flowmaster.

And I said I wasn't going to get into the "Flowmaster Sucks" argument

yes the car was tuned, so i guess an asp pully, will be next, and i guess i will look into changing my cat-back system. i realt dont want to get rid of my cats, i heard that carsound flows pretty good, and with the slp lt, i didnt think a had a restrictive exhaust system, which cat-back should i get.
