why dont we see more 228 cams????
How come I dont see alot of 228 cams? Is it because guys either stay on the lower side (220, 224) for emissions, or they just figure if they go 228, why not just go 230+ ?
I did a search and found a handful of TSP 228R threads, and only a few F10 threads. I've been looking at these 2 for awhile, and was just wondering if there was something I was missing.
If you have one of these 2 please let me know if you how you like it. BTW I was looking at it on a 112+2
Thanks alot!

I have the 228R and love it. I should be going to the dyno this sat and I will post the results when I go (if weather permits). Driveability is great, even when mine was an auto with this cam. Not sure about emissions though, we don't have them here. I think you might have it right about staying low or going with a higher cam and no one trying the 228.

I got 420/399 with an off the shelf CC XE 228/230 .571/.573 112+2. It drives great and made surprisingly good power. I may actually get comp to grind me a 228/230 .588/.592 112+2 on XE-R lobes-the driveabilty on that would even be better than the XE.

I have the f10 on a 114 and its ok. but im thinking of going with a bigger cam..maybe the f13 ...id really look at something not mirrored...what i mean is instread of the 228/228 look at getting the 224/228 or the 228/230...ls1's seem to like those cams alot more. Other than that I like it and it sounds damn good going through my TD's

Thanks guys, I like all the positive responses. Its making my decision just a little easier.
I heard that the LS1's like a split cam like the 228/230 better, I might look into that.
One more question, the TSP 228R has a .588 lift wheras the F10 has .576.
Is .012 more lift really gonna change anything, and if so where in the rpm band?
I'd rather lose a couple peak horses in exchange for some low-end torque, since for some reason when I dyno'd the car stock, it was low on torque.
Stock #'s (312hp 298 ft/lb) Yes, its a M6.
thanks again guys!

224/228 581 112+2 xer here. No way in the world would I even think of 3.42 gears with this cam. Cam surge would be unbearable, if not undriveable at 60-70. Not to mention no low end at all. My first time out on drag radials (been running street tires for 9 years) I ran 12.11 @ 118.49 with full weight including spare and jack. Stock suspension and 10 bolt pos. I'm waiting on my ported Shaner s3 TB. Should break 11.80-11.90 with that on the car and some more practice as long as she don't break. Love the cam, especially when it runs with the "big dog" cams. It put down 391/373 with it is in my sig corrected to SAE.
