What I learned swapping to a TH350
2001 Camaro Z28 formerly 4L60E. Now TH350
1. The stock shifter will work.
2. The stock cross member will work as long as you know a machine shop that can add approx 4 inches (welded right) to the front side of the car to set the mount on.
3. If you wish to use stock torque arm (or at least one that is still mounted to the tailshaft), then you should buy B&M's 700R4 to TH350 mounting hardware. It will work for the torque arm provision.
4. You will have to retune your car to think it is an M6 as the TH350 is vacuum modulated, not computer controlled. Your check engine light will stay on until you do this.
5. There is a place called Century Transmission based out of TX that will fabricate a 6" or 9" tailshaft for the car to make the Speedo work with the mechanical gear that plugs right up.
6. Putting a "T" fitting into the Master Cylinder Brake assist vacuum line branching down to the vacuum on the tranny will be fine.
7. Getting a Lokar flexible TH350 Universal Dipstick tube ahead of time will save you some last minute time.
8. Including lubing the torque converter prior to install, the TH350 took 8.5 quarts to fill it and the 'verter.
9. A TH350 with a 9" tailshaft is the same overall length as the 4L60E and you can reuse your driveshaft.
10. It would have been easier to mount the Torque arm bracket mentioned above to the tailshaft prior to the tranny being up on the car.
11. You will need a new torque converter as the 4L60E does not mate up to the TH350.
There are more and I will add as needed. If you have done this swap, please feel free to add to this thread

1.there is an aftermarket company that has a product that will allow you to keep the stock 4l60 tailshaft on the th350 by way of a 1'' thick metal shim that bolts between the two.
2. that allowed retainment of stock speed sensor and stock tq arm mount
3. the stock a4 crossmember can be reused as long as you get a new th350 mount.
4. stock driveshaft, u-joints(replaced these for insurance though), and yoke can be reused.
5. i need new rear gears (stock 2.73)
For further referance, who knows if the cable on the stiock shifter is a front exit or rear exit before i buy an aftermarker shifter? i dont feel like pulling the console out since im away at college right now.

or rather than re-mount the TA to the tailshaft, you could go with the
BMR trak pak torque arm that is reccomended for high HP applications..
BMR's aftermarker regular TA's are only reccomended to 11.0 in the 1/4 anyway due to limitations of the tailshaft mount.
BUT, you'll be fine with the stocker since it will give and flex before it breaks a mount
If my 4L60e(more like when.. ) goes out with the N20, I'm gonna go with the th350 swap also..

where can you get the adapter plate to use the stock tailshaft and what would be the optimal rear gearing for the th350 swap. seen too many 4l60's burnt so don't even want to waste the money rebuilding it since it's going to be a racer anyway.

just get a 9 inch tail shaft (same length as the 4L60E). The torque arm mount is made by B&M. The tailshaft is tricky because it does need to be modified to accept the magneto speedo reluctor wheel if you want your speedo to work (the hole needs to be on the other side). Century Transmissions here in TX makes it.

Yes Keith, you just need to convert the cable speedo output to a VSS signal. I am not sure if the TH700-R4 VSS (87+ on F-bodys) will bolt right in. I do know that the 4L80 VSS will bolt in to the TH350/400. I was using one, but it needed to be modified. I don't know if this was just me or ?

Hmm.. well I'm thinking of buying a rossler 350.. I just need a place that can take care of this for me as I do not have time to fab something up..

To make your speedometer work with the TH350 you can use one of your front Wheel Speed Sensors (There is one on each of the front wheels) as your VSS signal. Just cut the two wires that run to your WSS and splice the VSS wires into them. Wires are: Tan --> Yellow , Dkgrn -->Ppl (Right Front WSS). THIS WILL DISABLE THE ABS. Your ABS will not work without one of its WSS sensors, but you will regain the use of your speedometer, odometer, cruise, and the use of the block learn cells.
The number of teeth on the ABS reluctor ring differs from the amount of teeth on the VSS reluctor ring, thus causing the number of pulses per revolution to be different which causes the speedometer to be off. This can be corrected easily with programming just like compensating for different gears/tire sizes.
