Default Crane 832s -- where do I get shims?

Where do I get shims for installing these springs? I need to have a 1.710" install height for proper spring pressures

Where do I get shims that'll work? Also the shims go on top of the spring seat correct?

I have a spring micrometer ... so while on the subject... do I have a proper understanding of how these work? (it's the crane one)

1. Set Micrometer ontop of spring seat, and place retainer on top

Do I draw the valve up too ? then install the rocker arm and adjust the micrometer till it's snuck against the rocker?

I'm just not quite sure how to use this tool yet...

yes you have to have the valve also. you lock the retainer to the valve and measure how far the distance is from the spring seat to the bottom of the retainer. this will give you the maximum distance. now, say this distance is 1.800". you are looking for 1.710". subtract the two. you get .090" this is the thickness shim you will need.

Comp cams has the shims-give me a minute and I'll get the part #. What you do to measure is install the spring seat base. Drop the mic inplace(you'll have to remove the seal first)then unscrew the mic until it bottoms out against the retainer and the locks look tight against the valve. There you'll have the spring install height. All you do then is install the shims under the seat.
