Ported oil pump

Ported oil pump
I'm probably gonna change out my oil pump when I do a cam swap. Just wondering if having a ported LS6 oil pump is that much better than just a stock LS6 oil pump?

I got a LPE one, shimmed specifically for my 4" crank for $139....not a bad price at all. I know that LPE does not go in for gimmicky stuff at all, like other good tuners, they realize when the factory got it right, and then what they can substantialy improve on....if they offer a ported oil pump, it must actually work...

The way I looked at it if it was an extra 50 bucks over dealer that was fine.
Agood pump is 120 and mine was a little more.
The best way to figure it is the hard to get at parts ,you only want to do it once and get the best.

"Looking for some added security for your LS1? ---The new SDPC blueprinted and ported high performance oil pump is the perfect addition to your LS1 engine.
The pumps are fully disassembled and inspected for added insurance. The entry and exit locations are hand ported to remove all casting flash for proper oil flow. The gerotor style gears are precision matched and all contact surfaces are inspected, prepped, and lubricated with special oil to insure maximum oiling performance.
When it comes to something as important as oil pressure, insist on a SDPC Blueprinted Oil Pump. "
They basically remove the flash and check it out...LOL...and I payed an extra $80 plus shipping for it. After I compared mine to that one I felt ripped, and could have done it myself in under ten minutes. And for people who feel just cause a good shop sells it means its a "must be done" obviously is the consumer for this product, like I was - a sucka I learned, now learn from me. Every shop likes a quick easy buck, hence the $500 "dyno" tune everyone pays for, that really have a few changes for PE, and timing if your lucky.
