What determines the lopey-ness of a cam?
I used to figure it was mostly the LSA that determined how much a cam loped. But after hearing some of the futural cams and a few others ... the 112 really doesn't seem to have the lope i'm looking for. Do i just need to go lower? Or are there other factors that account for the distinct lopey-ness of a cam like ramp rate? a bigger differenence in I & E duration?

Overlap....
Which is the product of both duration and LSA.
A lower LSA or a higher duration will increase the overlap.
The seat timing is also something to look at on this too. A cam with a short seat timing will have less overlap and therefore less lope.
If you want more lope, you need a bigger cam in duration or a smaller LSA.

There have been many, many threads on this. You need to use the search button, my friend. There is a mathematical formula for calculating intake/exhaust overlap in a couple of those threads. Having a split duration doesn't change the lope much, but it does make the idle rougher. Lowering the idle speed will increase lope also.

Ramp rate will also play a role in the amount of overlap. For the same duration at .050, the cam with the most agressive ramp will have less overlap and less lope.

overlap plays some roll, but tr224's lope harder then the f13, quite a bit of difference there in overlap, so it has to be something other then overlap!!!! for example.. my f14 114lsa cam i full expect to lope harder then a f13 on a 112, even tho the f13 has 7 and my f14 has 5.. the f13 just doens't lope.
