Default Will I break My 10 bolt?

I have a question about my rearend... I have 275/40/17 F1s on the back, I bought Nitto 555r Drag radials and was concerned about putting them on because of blowing up my rearend... I also have 4.10s. Is it really common to blow up a 10 bolt with this setup or should i not worry about having to do easy launches since they are only 275s

As I've been told several times, 10bolts are very tricky and can blow up at any time, with any level of modification done to the car. We have people blowing up their 10bolt when they where nearly stock, yet people running 10's with them. It's a matter or luck, and well maintence IMO. Try to take it easy on hard launches and such. When it goes, it goes. Either get a 12bolt or just replace it with another 10bolt.

Have I got a deal for you!!!

You need to loan me your tires so I can torture test them properly.

I'll do a good amount of sprayed launches with my car and let you know if my 10 bolt breaks...

With traction, it's not a matter of if you'll break it, it's just when.

I have been running bfg drag radials the past few weekends at the local street hotspot. I have been leaving the line at 3500rpms or so with very little if any tire spin. So far the 10bolt has held up, I am running stock gears though. You mentioned you have 4.10's..From what I understand they are weaker than the stock gears.

BTW...I know my 10bolt is on borrowed time!

mine lasted to a 1.85 60' launching at 6000 over and over and over again, i even trailered it to the track with the intent of breaking it runing 20-30 times, never broke. put 4.10's in it and the same week i put the 4.10's in, i broke the carrier in 6 places, 10 bolt death mark is up to 4 as of last summer alone.
