IMO, I think too many people don't know the true meaning of rice. To me rice is the car that has neons all over it, hubcaps and sounds like a weedwacker on steroids that goes 0-60 in just under 10 seconds. its the triple decker wing on a FWD car that couldn't get to 100 mph with a 20mph tailwind. If the car looks good (which 99% of them on here do since they're F bodys) then neons or accessory lighting can look good too. Too many people call rice for anything now. It's hard to make an LS1 Fbody look ricey. Although I have seen it. Bottom line though is what you think of your car. Not everyone is going to like it but if you like it that is all that matters. Chances are more people will like your car than dislike it. Good luck with the cops though if you put a red light in your hood. My 2 pennies

dude, dont listen to these people. Im actually thinking about doing the samething with my alarm.
Wat i came up with is that you would have to mount the "lights" and run the electrical lines on the uinderside of the hood. Also, you may wire a contact system. You have the wires from the module with one contact and the wires going to the light on another contact. basically, when the hood is closed, the two contacts connect and make a closed circuit. the lights turn on..... when you lift the hood..no contact, no lights...
basically your objective is to not run the wires on the hood and have a clean install...
good luck and congrats on your open mind!!!!

Talking about this?
http://home.ptd.net/~chrispav/transa...tml#neonlights
Not bad looking, but I think if other cars on the road had multi-colored lights at night it'd **** me off. That and I"m pretty sure colored lights are a big no-no.

I think it looks good for show.
I think that it is illegal to have red or blue lights on your vehicle other than what came stock. But for show... i think it looks nice

THeres nothing "rice" about makign your car stand out...hell theres plenty of imports around here that I wouldnt call "rice"
Rice is a term I use to describe cars that are neither look or go...just a sorry attempt at looking like its trying to go.
A Civic or Integra that has a nice paint job, with wing and body kits professionally installed and painted and sport a nice clean, deep exhaust is NOT rice.
A Civic or Integra with a fender floppin around, weedwacker muffler, 3 of the 4 wheels with half decent rims and 1 wheel with a donut, and a wing that doenst match the cars style IS RICE.
Its hard for me to hate on the import crowd cuz they almost always give me SOOO much respect and love for my ride. And alot of the import guys I see around here have also done nice things to thier cars (hell I was about to buy an Integra GSR the other day to add to my sports car collection!).
In anycase, whether this board considers what you want rice or not (and they will, because ANYTHING that doesnt look stock, with classic wheels and Zaino'ed is usually pegged as rice), it shouldnt matter. Its what YOU like that counts. You gotta drive your car everyday, you gotta race it and show it off! You gotta pick up your dates in that car. Baiscally, you and only you will have ot live with whatever you do or dont do to your car...if thats the case do what YOU LIKE and forget what anyone else thinks.

Yea, I am diggin on this idea and now might have to do it myself.
I agree with a couple of the above descriptions of rice. and screw the guys who cry "Rice" at every mod you make other than bolt on HP. Some of us are building cruisers not drag racers.

There is guy who has that kit on a white WS6. It has a black light effect on the car. He changed the fog lights to match and the little vents(brake ventilation) behind the front wheels have the lights to match. Very nice IMO.

For about 1 1/2 years I drove an 18 wheeler when I needed the money and was in a bind. I've seen the most beautiful polished machines with lights in every imaginable place. Some have taste, some don't.I remember a black Peterbilt chromed and polished to the hilt, with "chicken lights" all around. His color of lights were blue. He had mini lights in the air filters and at night the blue glimmering off the chrome....
If truck drivers have gaudy add ons, does that make them rice?

i think it looks cool, not sure if i would actually do it to my car though... so that just totally blocks off the air from entering the nostrils of the hood? i guess it wouldnt really be a big deal, you could just get a FTRA or SSRA kit and have better performance anyway.
