I was thinking about cutting it short. Not going all through to bumper.

Having them dump before the rear axle will save you some money.

I went to a place called LT1 motorsports in La. To see if he can get me a better price on true dual. The guy said the in all of his 15 years working on ls1, lt1's... he never heard of people putting true duals that dumped before the axle. He said that it will be way to loud and the first cop that hears and see it will write me a ticket. I was trying to tell him that they have bullet mufflers and he disagreed. I realize that wasn't the place for me or my car. Please tell me if i'm wrong...

Definately not the right place. Don't go somewhere that tries to sell you what they want, instead of what you want. Kinda funny, I've seen several true duals dumped on LT1 cars, actually more than I've seen on LS1 cars.
