im not sure how the guy did it...he told me something about shutter or he left the apature open for a long time...he used a tripod.

has to be dark outside. must have the ability to manualy open and shut your shutter. a tripod is almost a must and a remote cable for the shutter helps alot too. Use a slow exposure rate, and then just do some shots. hold the shutter open while a few cars pass by then close. repeat. expose all your shots and pic the one that looks best. you will notice them getting progressivle "brighter" the longer you keep the shutter open. and the more cars that pass by the more "light streams" you will have. I did a project like this back in school of an intersection. was neat because the pic showed all three, red, yellow and green lights.

tri pod is a must, the camera can not be moved, otherwise everything will be blured.
