Nice man. I got about 54 hours and all I have left is my solo cross country and my check ride. I have got an old and tired cessna 172r up to 159 on the GPS. It just takes a nice dive. It makes alot of noise when your going that fast...lots of fun.

How much has all those lessons and stuff cost you? I have always wanted to take flying lessons, but have never really been sure on the cost, I have heard a couple of different numbers.

If you want a private pilots license at the school im at...be ready to shell out 5k. Other places are cheaper. Its possible to do it for 4k and under if you find a cheap plane/ instructor. I get college credit for my license. I attend San Jac and fly out of cliff hyde at ellington field. Ive been paying for my school myself and it’s a BITCH. Im finally getting student loans this summer so I can finish my instrument and my commercial license. Ive been a poor college student for too damn long.

It is very expensive. Not really a good idea to space out the flight hours. You should take as many lessons in as little window of time as possible to pass.( you forget less). I have a TON of schools around me. Just haven't chosen one.

Good old Institute of Aviation - I got my pilots license and instrument rating when I was at U of I too. Who are your instructors? I wonder if anyone I know is still flying down there (graduate in '99)...

I'm working on my commercial, and I think the fastest I ever got the Cessna 172 was around 159knots, which is in the 180mph range. But in the air, 180mph is still slow as *****. Hopefully the USAF will change that
