1/4 turn or less on stock lifters, is it enough
A friend of mine is running between 1/4 to 1/5 turn of preload on his stock lifters with a futural 230/232 110lsa cam and stock lifters with stock heads and stock rockers. His mph is a little low. I thought that this may not be enough preload with stock lifters. What are your thoughts? He is runnin Crane dual springs shimmed .030" also.
Mph is 114 ish with full boltons including a 90 mm fast intake with the only lacking bolton being a EWP and under drive pulley. He runs 4.33 gears.
Also, he sais he doesn't have excessive valve train noise which would certainly be a sign of not enough pre load. Could problems still arise from not enough pre load with stock lifters even if no excessive valve train noise is generated? Maybe his springs are suspect.
I don't believe the tune is off either as he seems to be very good with tuning others cars.
Any input is appreciated.

I have always used a half turn past 0 lash but there are some cam companies that are researching 1 full turn and Crane actually says that that is were the best power is(1 turn past 0).
