beat an 05 GT then i broke down! this is in my 95Z28......Well i went out to Dothan earlier tonight to check out Armageddons 2000 Turbo SS which is one bad *** ****! Anyway, we hung out for a while, ate at hooters, and then i started the 30 mile trip home at about 7:30pm.
Well about 10miles outside of dothan, im doin about 75mph and i see these headlights comin up pretty fast but dont recognize them. Bout 5 seconds later its on my *** but i still dont know what it is. Then he or she passes me casually and i see that its a brand new silver 2005 GT so i figure hmmm. wonder if it wants to play. So i speed up a lil and get right beside it and drop down to 4th and i look over, thenn down to 3rd and i look over again and see the nnose go up so i punch it..........shift-lite blings and i smack 4th and stay in it for a few seconds and then look in the rear view and see the stangs headlights not too far behind so id say maybe a car length. well i slow up and he or she gets up beside me again so im thinking ok iguess you wanna go for another. We both drop down some gears, me in 3rd them in whatever gear at about 75mph( guess 3rd) and we both rode like that for about 10seconds and then POW, both take off at the same time......my shift-lite goes off and i whack 4th and stay in it up to 115mph or so and i see the stang about a car length behind again. Guess after that they didnt want anymore and startin dropin further back as we drove another 5miles or so. got to Wicksburg we theres a stoplight and its red so i start downshiftin, get down to 2nd then the light turns green so i give it some gas and it starts spurterin and hesitating. Ah fuc* im thinkin what the hell is this. i managed to get it up to 70mph all the while it was clunkin and sputterin and then finally it just died and my service engine soon light came on. I coasted for a lil bit and managed to get it off a side road & turn my hazards on just as the Mustang went by. Bet they we're laughin their *** off. Anyway, long story short...i beat an 05 GT twice from a 75mph roll and soon after my fuel pump committed suicide or at least im thinkin its the fuel pump?
What do yall think?

DAMN, thats sux big time. Coughing and sputtering while you were driving...........I know this sounds dumb, but is there gas in the tank? Don't look at the gauge go tap the tank to check for sure, I had that happen to me before in a Dakota, gauge read 1/4 tank. And if it isn't that I'd start the and work forward to the fuel rails. Could be the pump, could be fuel filter, could be you got low on gas and sucked "bottom of the tank" sludge. Just have at it and start checking stuff, hope it all works out.

sounds like your fuel filter, same thing happened to my 92z28, wasn't racing though, my car started sputtering and then it cut off. filter was clogged and the #7 wire fried.

Isn't there a valve on the fuel rails that you can just press like a tire shrader valve? Turn the key on and off a couple of times to prime the fuel pump and then press the shrader valve in on the fuel rail and see if pressurized fuel comes out. If it barely comes out or doesn't come out at all then I would say you have a fuel problem.

but yea, do like the other guy said, and prime the pump, and then press the schrader valve in the fuel rail.
