Riced DSM flees. C5 sees tail lights quickly.
Edit: Wow, I just reread this post and I could barely get through it myself. Sorry for the incoherence.
Cliff's notes:
- Ricer gets revved at, he craps his pants and turns off.
- C5 goes down bad on a 3rd gear run.
On my way somewhere today on a 3 lane. Behind me, in traffic are a riced DSM (pretty far back) and a sweet C5 which was pacing me, but we were being respectful of each other.
The riced DSM gains quickly on myself and the C5 as we put put along at the speed limit. I opened the electronic exhaust cutouts just to see if this would deter a race (with them opened, I've seen fear consume some ricer drivers rather quickly and they back off).
Riced DSM comes around, gets on the gas and gives me a BOV salute on my passenger side. I reply with a rev thru the open headers. The DSM dude gets on the gas again (I'm thinking, OK he wants to go... 1 Mississippi, 2Mississippi...) but before I decide to get on the gas (thank the Lord I waited), he cuts in front of me and crosses over to the left hand turn lane while braking hard in front of me. The ****** turned off and almost made me ram into the back of his car in the process. Hahaha. Never seen that happen before.
So, the C5 observing this gets frisky. I didn't want to go on this road given that there are cross streets, so I waited patiently for a long, 1/2 mile long onramp that waited for us ahaed. He got on it, as did I, right behind him. As the onramp became a 2 lane, I noticed he got on the gas while I was about 4800rpm in 3rd, and I pulled around on his left and passed him easily as I wound out the rest of 3rd and shifted into 4th as I cleared his front bumper. Put a few cars on him easily and slowed. At a stop light way on down the road, he pulled up next to me with a huge grin. I grinned back.

hey do you have the QTP electric C/O's? If so have you experienced any motor burnout from holding the switch too long? Its not even on my car yet but that worries me. The last thing I want to do is overtorque the motor I spent a hundred bucks on and have it take 20 seconds to open...

I have the dual Qtec QTP Y-pipe. I've had to replace 2 motors ($30 each replacement), as the each motor has been hit when coming off the ramps of a lift during 2 different instances. If you have the cutout in the I-pipe, this shouldn't be a problem.
From now on, I must ask for shops to place long planks of wood to shim the ramps so the angle is less acute.
Repairing the QTECs is rather easy. If it breaks by itself, QTP will usually fix it for free. If it gets hit (as did mine) and breaks, they'll sell you a replacement motor.
Open/close cycle takes about 5-10 seconds. You can tell when to let off the switch.
They're a great novelty. Today, sitting in traffic on US1, a guy in his brand new '05 Mustang GT convertible was in the lane next to me with the top down. I felt like being an *** and cranked open the cutouts so that the lope of my car would drown out his stereo. He got pissed.

Hey, I thought you were going to either give up street racing or sell the car!
Nice kills btw, scaring off ricers is even more gratifying to me than actually beating them sometimes.

Well, I am trying to cut down, but I can't go cold turkey. Something about 4 roundish tail lights driving agressively in front of me that brings on the red mist in my eyes and the devil horns.
