WS6 Rims - Skinnies
What do you think?
I've been considering having a professional cut an extra set of WS6 rims down to 5.5" or 6.0" width and mounting 205/?/17 tires on them for sleeper skinnies. I know that's not to skinny but just wanted some opinions.
I know that someone has widened there WS6 rims to 17" X 11", so I'm sure this isn't too much different

If you like the look, then most certainly do it. This should be the main reason to modify your wheels.
If your reasoning is for benifits seen in drag wheels, then you can be spending your money much better. From what you are considering, there are very little benifits seen in rotational weight considerations. You would still have a very heavy wheel not to mention your tires would be too heavy.
You're loosing steering AND braking control for no reason other then if you prefer the look of a skinny wheel. If you considered et streets or the like, your setup would be a complete mis-match due to the design differences between front/rear tires. Steering and controllability will suffer and deem more unpredicable on the track and street.
I'm not downplaying what you are considering. Certainly, if you like the look then it's worth it. I'm only pointing out some major defenciences in creating a setup like this...
Personally, I consider our Bogart's appearance as a high-end show-car wheel. Some may not like the appearance of a few styles but there are so many choices to consider, we try to appeal to different tastes.
Scoobie, no offense taken on my end, I understand that you probably don't like the smaller diameter wheels. There is a huge advantage to building and running them this way....hence why most drag setups are 15's. If you saw our Bogart's in person, you may change your mind.
At any event, good luck with however you choose to run your wheels.

No one seems to make anything smaller than a 225 on a 17" wheel, so it wouldn't help to much. But I have the welds already and I'm just looking for something more stealthy at the track. I have 2 sets and I just think it would be cool to have it done and possible only lose 1 tenth. I'll be calling tomorrow to check on the price, so I'll try to let you guys know.

Looks like wheels of America can handle the job for $150 each for the skinnies. They can also widen up to 2" for $200.00. So, I'm thinking of making the skinnies 5-1/2 X 17 and using a 205/50/17 (From Discount tire for $91.00 list price of each)which isn't much shorter than the stock tire. Not a great way to spend your money, but it would be neat to have them done.
