I'll have my car back sometime this week from ls1speed. i have a 99' TA ram air hood, patriot stage II heads, mediem lope (519.224 i think) nitrious cam, hooker long tube headers, cut outs, 150 wet shot of nitrious, stall at 3200rpm, trans go shift kit. trans cooler, walbro high end inline fual pump, 18" rims 9.5 fronts 10.5 rears with nitto 555r's on back. pushin close to or over 575 HP at the back wheels.

my question is how many runs at full force you think i'll get before blowing my stock rear end. automatic A4 (i think) 3.23 ring, pinion. and or the engine...

or anything else that you'll think will blow first? exp, Rearend, transmission, driveshaft, engine...

I'm trying to decide if there are any other parts i should get upgraded before running it or, if there's a decent amount of time before breakage, run it for a while and replace them later...

If you hook on the launch, I'd bring a spare rear to the track.

Rear end will go first. I think you will get away with it for a while with your A4 if on a smooth track, and stay with stock tires, no sticky slicks. If you spin over a rut on the street it will pop that rearend on the spot, though.

can i get a refurbed or used 12 bolt cheap? how much more will this cost me?

These cars are SUPER expensive to improve. you mod one thing and you're pretty much replacing the whole car by the time you're done...sigh

Next time around i'll just buy a body and build it up...

that's true though.. if you want a high HP car *AND* for it to be reliable, what do you need to replace?
lets see..

tranny.. check
rear.. check
wheels & tires... check
cam, heads, timing belt, pushrods, springs, the whole shebang.. check
forged bottom? for reliability.. check
oil pump? fuel system? check check.

lol, wtf can stay? computer, alternator, battery.. uh.. not much else?
BUT

when you take out all these parts and replace them with the better/improved ones..

all you need is to buy a body, put these things into it and you got another car!!

Since your in an A4 the rear end will last ya for a while. Since on launch the gears are preloaded. I pulled the front left front wheel on my 10 bolt w/ M/T ET Streets.

Hmm I think just the alternator, but it needs a bigger pulley! The battery has to go, it's too big and heavy. Computer has to go at 8000 rpm. The block has to go unless you trust wet sleave technology to get 427 cubs.

If the rear does survive a few runs, that tranny will be toast in no time. I wouldn't even be surprised if it starts slipping if you get more than 1 good run down the 1/4. Aside from those 2, the motor will hold, at least for awhile, but you need to be extremely **** about the tune. Do NOT let it run the least big lean at WOT. You will cook the rings or blow a piston. But if you keep it in good tune, the only thing you need to worry about is bearings. Use a good oil, like German Syntec.
