i need help!!! converter problems
my car is a 2002 ta, please somebody has any idea what is wrong with the car. the car ran a 12.76 at 105.23 m/h with a 1.775 60ft. mods at that time:
air lid
3200 vig
et streets
slp loud/m cat back
transgo
stock tanny and 3.23 gears.
now it has a cam on the 230-240 duration, 90mm fast intake, 90mm t/b, kooks 1 7/8-2 to 3 1/2 collector, 3600 vig with 2.5 str, same tires time same gear, and the car ran 12.069 at 111.39 m/h with a 1.685 60ft.
im guessing is something wrong with the converter cause the seems a lot slower on the top end than what is supposed to do, i dont think this converter is very efficient at all, please any suggestion will help!!!

That vig will feel softer uptop , that would be the trade off but you have a big cam big intake big throttle body , with stock heads , that doesnt seem to be the right combo in my opiniun. I think you got some big flowing parts on your car inwhich do not need. Bigger isnt always better. I had 216/220 cam with boltons and a tci 3800 converter that would run 11.80s at 112mph in 80*temps ..

The vig3600 is a good converter. I do not think that is your problem.
Have you done any weight reduction?
What is your race weight?
Where do you race?
Your 105.23 looks a little low but it all depends on where you race and weather conditions. My ET will vary .5-.8 from winter to summer.
You trapped 6mph higher and dropped your ET by .7. Not too bad.

what did it put down for hp , i had my car tuned and it put down 342 at the wheels and weighed in at 3576 with me in it . I still think the parts are to big , you want to have velocity as well as volume..

I agree. Put some good high flowing heads on there and it will really fly. Some 3.73 gears will help to.

Stock heads is one problem the other problem is the large 1 7/8 headers. On my stock engine Corvette I installed 1 7/8 headers and it slowed down a ton, went down to 1 3/4 headers and ran much quicker. As the others have said I don't think you have an issue with the converter. Good Luck
