Another bike kill...
Not a crotch rocket mind you but a Sportster 883. This is a small bike for it's displacement and had a 2 to 1 header. Anyway, myself and the wife were headed back toward the house after running errands when I ended up at the line beside this bike I had been watching. So I look over and give a light rev and thought I heard him rev back but couldn't tell cause the radio was on. The light changed and it was clear ahead as I rolled into the intersection in first, waiting. I didn't have long to wait as he took the hit. I hit it at the same time, spinning the rest of the way through the intersection and hooking good when I hit the new pavement. I hit second hard and got a bit twitchy as I stopped his pull and got two cars by 3rd. Got a clean shift and pulled two more to 100 where I lifted and stood on the brakes due to upcoming cross streets. We ended up beside each other again later and I told him he had a nice little bike. He said something back about it but I couldn't understand. He did look very suprised to get beat by a car. It was fun

I just abandoned motorcycles for cars recently. I would be extremely surprised if an 883 Sportster could run in the 12's. That motorcycle, and the 1200 sportster as well, are like the dinosaurs of the motorcycle world. We're talking maybe 50 hp at the crank with the 883. My Yamaha 1700 Warrior cruiser will run mid 12's with 85 crank horsepower. Of course, a GSX-R 1000 or ZX-10 can run under 11 easily, maybe even in the 9's with a good rider...

Ok, I was going by what I could dig up on a quick search.
