Default mids vs. longtubes.....

ok, so here's the deal. i want to get a little extra power from my car and i am still on the stock manifolds and stock cats. i have a chance to pick up Mac mid length headers with an o/r Y pipe for 300 bucks. I have found pacesetter longtubes for 300(uncoated) 400ish(coated), then i gotta get an o/r Y for another 120 or so and with either setup I plan on getting a muffler for my LM. With both I have to get 02 sims also....

In the future, hopefully before the end of the year I want to get a turbo setup for my car. Should I pick up the mids and run em until I get my turbo, then sell em......or should I just get longtubes. Help...Im trying to decide what to do.

btw, whats the most power you could gain from mids with a lid, throttle body, full exhaust....?

also, if finding a decent turbo setup doesnt work I might go with a D1SC....

For that price, get the Macs. They make great power too. You may get a little more with the LT's, but like I said for that price, you can use the difference you would have paid for the LT's and ORY to buy something else for your car. My buddy has the Mac mids and they sound awesome. He said it was a definite power increase, very noticeable.

Where were you able to find the Macs for that price if you don't mind my asking? I'm leaning towards a set of Mac's myself.

Get the macs. They were one of the best mods I've done so far. Very noticable power increase as well as bad *** sound.

I got kooks longtubes(900 bucks), and was neck and neck w/ another TA that had macs and similar mods. Get the macs! Not a big difference for non cammed cars between Lts and mids IMO.

I have a complete mac set up.from motor to tailpipes,I think it sounds real good.Souds like a flowmaster rumble, with a little borla rasp.Slightly obnoctious...but demands respect. Its quiet when you want it to be.See ya...Dont look to get much more than a small noticable differance in your upgrades.

instead of a turbo im probably going to do heads and a cam and maybe a blower down the line. 375 is a good price for pacesetters and i have found them for that much but then i have to pay another almost 150 for a Y pipe. the macs come with an O/R Y pipe for 300.....
