Default MR edition vs. my z06

just got my z06 back after having titanium valve springs and retainers put in at phoenix motorsports when i see a charcoal grey mr evo.... i was behind him at a light and knew what he wanted to do.....too bad i got instructions to be somewhat easy on the car for 100miles to break in the springs....we take off from the light going at a normal speed.... he's about 2 cars up on my right and he drops it... i do the same but at 3/4 throttle and only took it too 5300rpms.... damn.... i pulled even with him and put 3 cars so fast it was ridiculous.... i let him get even again which he did... he drops it again so i do the same, but now it was like 5 cars with quick 3-4 shift......he pulls even and i gave him the thumbs up which he was all smiles..... NO RICER FLY-BYE!!! i was pumped to meet some one that didn't buzz by me then...

btw: that was one of the coolest colors on a car.... and made that evo look really good imo....

it was just what i needed to race since a local guy told me his stock MR beat 4 z06s to 140mph....i kinda said "yeah well its a nice car" and asked if he wanted to race..... of course he was late for something and didn't have time

my mods are: cam,intake,headers,x-pipe,exhuast,plugs,wires,no2....

I used to hate the Evo cars. I like 'em now, after reading about their mod potential with turbo upgrades. An RS (no wing) version with a bigger turbo sounds like a neat ride to me.

MR has the Bart Simpson Vortex fins on the roof .

Nice kill!

There not??? The MR has the most Hp out of all of them. It also came with a 6 speed not 5 and a active center diff. So yes they are faster. They say that the "vortex" thing works but I call BS

I hate to magazine race, but around a roadcourse, all 3 came within very close times of each other.

Also, where's the extra Hp in the MR?

Yeah my buddy owns an MR and we took it to the dyno. Put down 254 to the tires stock. This was the same as all the other stock 05s. All the 05s are putting down more power than the 04s. Not the MR over the other Evos. We have a friend with an RS and they are a pretty close race. The six speed is more of a help on a road course than a drag race from what I can tell. No match for a Z06 by any means when stock or even with quite a few bolt ons. Although like any other car, they have loads of potential. My .02

all the 05 evo's make a little bit more power than the 03 and 04's

03's and 04's were rated at 271 hp and 272 ft lbs or thereabouts.

I think even with all my mods im barely in z06 territory from a roll.

Yea the hp increase and 6-spd is for ALL '05+ Evolutions.

I raced a stock '05 last week, first Evolution I've raced in the T/A ..my god it wasn't pretty. Honestly, I thought it would be close, 2-3 bus lengths later (no, I'm not exagerating) and my mind was changed.

I'm looking forward to raced a mildly modded one.

yeah i know the ET is, but the trap speed is pretty close. I think on average i trap closer to 115. i only trapped over 116 2 times 116.9 and 117.1 and about 5 other runs were 115. A few boltons and the z06 would probably be pulling away.

only the MR has and will have the 6 speed. The regular EVO and the RS will maintain their current 5 speed setup.

Yeah, even when the Evo 9 comes out, the six speed will remain MR only.

haha i don't know yet... it's going back out to Phoenix for a tune and another edit to fix some codes....they want to see if they can pull some power out too.... i'm a little nervous to spray and run on the track... traction seems like it will be a big problem.

All the Evo's put out very similar Numbers. Whoever said his stock MR pulled on z06's to 140 is on some crazy sh*t because it would not happen unless the guy in the z06 decided not to downshift or race at all. By the way my car is all stock now as I am parting it out. The day I got all the parts taken off a C6 pulls up next to me, lets just say it was very ugly for my Evo.
