Default Question about 4.10 gears

I currently have 3.42's and was wondering if i put 4.10's in my M6 would i need to change from 4th to 5th in the 1/4mile or will i be able to leave it in 4th. I have the stock 16 rims on it.

you would prolly run out of gear in the 1/4 mile, running on rev limiter if you dont shift into 5th with 4.10's, but who cares, DO IT, I am getting a set ehre soon also, and i here they are a crazy difference

I think the stock limiter is good for 114 mph in 4th. There is no compare to 4.10's and a program to change the limiter will be in the future anyway.

I will be swapping from 3.23's to 4.10's soon enough as well. I am in the middle of an a4 to m6 swap and the 3.23's are too small for the 6 speed.

Cant WAIT till I get the 4.10's in!

4th should still be good for you unless you are heavilly modded and running 115+

you dont have much room left with the stock rev limiter in place.
i hit 115 at 6600 rpm

Even if the gears make you shift in the 1/4 track...they are more than worth it just everyday driving the car on the street. I.E. me getting on the interstate 0-100 = ear to ear grin.

yeah i will say that the 1,2,3 runwith 4.10's is something everyone should experience once.
but jeez when you can start from 3rd.... it almost seems to much gear to keep this top end loving motor in its sweetspot longer. i cant help but having this feeling everytime i run my car that it was over so fast that my motor didnt even get a chance to get going through each gear.
(if that makes any sense)

im also on a stock toasted/slippng clutch so this could also be the reason.

and practice shifting because your going to be doing a whole lot of it!!

I haven't run the 1/4 with my 4.10's yet, but I can say that I would do gears again in a heartbeat as soon as money permitted! 4.11's on a 6 speed is a slice of heaven.
