Has anyone considered a Dana 60 instead of a 12 or 9"?
I had a guy recommend installing a Dana 60 over a 9" or 12 bolt, he says their much stronger. I searched and didn't find anything about this and I'm not sure of any sponsers offering this as an option.
What are your thoughts about this and has anyone ever done it? Do you think it would work, be a good choice, etc...?
Thanks in advance!!

D60= Super strong.
There was a thread about this not too long ago. The D60 will use about the same amount of power as a 9". It weighs a little more, but is more efficient. They can be built very cheap, come from the factory with 35 spline diffs and strong posi's. OEM gears are very cheap. Did I mention they were strong?!? 9.75" ring gear!!

I talked to DTS this morning and the information I gathered from them was this:
They are currently developing a complete bolt in Dana 60 for the F Bods that should be available in 3-6 months. The points he illustrated to me were that this is the strongest rear that will be available, weighing more than 12 bolt but less than a 9". Parts are readily available making this a cost effective option and there will be options for both 3 and 4 channel systems.
The differential options will include a posi, tru trac, and another kind similar to the detroit locker, and a full spool.
The availability of the parts channels makes this a cost effective choice and will be less then or comparable to an aftermarket 12 bolt. Because of the changes in measurments, the need for a new driveshaft is going to be mandatory, however, we will be able to use the factory or aftermarket torque arm as a bolt on with no special provisions needed.
The best part is he said that while being stronger than hell, this rear will not whine and is much stronger than a Ford 9. An important note was that the availability of this D60 may make the 12 bolt and 9" market drop in price due to many people going to a piece that is stronger, doesn't whine, and is virtually bullet proof for one of our cars.
Hope this is helpful, I plan to wait for one of these units to put in my car.

The Strange catalog advertises S60's for GM A-bodies, G-bodies, and Mopar leaf spring cars. Prices for the GM's range from $1779 with a spool and 35 spline axles to $2125 with a spool and 40 spline axles. Thats complete without brakes. With quite a few options to raise the price up. Something else to consider but as long as somebody builds one prices on others may come down a little, probably not much, but as long as its stronger I could deal with a few extra pounds........ on the car at least.
