Default Difficult 2-3 shift under hard acceleration

I've always had trouble engaging 3rd gear when shifting out of 2nd during hard acceleration. Sometimes during normal driving, the shifter doesn't smoothly engage and jumps out. Is there a problem with my tranny? Bad synchro?

it can either be a sign of a syncro like you said but the reason it could be doing it is that the clutch is not fully disengauging. bleed the system and see if it gets any better.

If your car is older than an02, you have the classic signs of a wallowed 3rd/4th fork. The old forks were aluminum /new ones are iron. Sounds like a damaged fork( jump out of gear). A synchronizer problem would be a clash-shift issue.

Yeah, my car is an 01. Is this fork something I can replace? Can I remove the alu. one and put the iron one in? My shifter doesn't jump out of gear IF it does engage, but sometimes I do have trouble engaging it. I get a grinding sound and the shifter kicks back before it engages. 1-2 and 3-4 shifts work just fine.

do you still have the stock shifter? if so, I would recommend getting a pro 5.0. I have had it and a b&m ripper and it is by far the better shifter. Just goes straight into third with no problem

I have the stock hurst with a UMI short stick. The short stick made shifting much more tactile...I'm holding off on a full shifter.

I have a 5.0 Pro and having the same problem. I dont think the problem is linked to the shifter. I think its either the clutch, forks, or syncros.

i believe the problem is not enough fluid flow through line, some of you experience soft peddle and some have peddle stuck all the way to the floor. so when you try to power shift, you press down clutch peddle all the way down, but the slave not exactly go all the way, so the disc not release all the way(dragging), makes speed shift to 3rd 4th ... notchy and takes little to get in gears. the syncho try to make up for the dragging for the clutch. if you keep doing this long enough, you will end up replace syncho. do the drill mod asap and the problem should solve
