Default Mach 1's are they worthy?

Hello im getting a 2002 NBM Ws6 a4 in 1 week). A guy on my street has a 04 Mach 1 5sp. It sounds very badass, and the other day me and my brother were changing his oil in his 01 SS M6. Guy stops right in front of my house ,and says Ls1 right my brother said ofcourse he laughed ,and drove away. I was like wtf my brother was gonna drive over to his house after we were done ,and ask him to follow him onto the highway lol. He decided screw him and went home. Anyway are they fast?

Just about the same as a LS1 in stock trim...slightly giving the mph edge to the LS1.

Found this on Stangnet:

"The 03/04 Mach 1's are supposed to put out 305 hp, and they are UNDER-rated. They really dyno around 285-290 rwhp stock. They run mid to low-13's stock, (with a good driver of course)."

The Mach1 is my favorite stang, and the only one I would ever consider buying. A newer mustang that actually makes good power without a power adder. It's pretty much even with a stock LS1. Not bad for a n/a 4.6 mini-me motor.

to add on to his post, they have 305hp and 320lbft of torque stock! Mach 1's are no slouches though.

I've seen a couple stock one's running at the track (may have exhaust) and they couldn't hit the 13's. Could be the driver though!!!

Stock for stock they are equal, but many owners act like the red headed step child that ford didn't love.

The Mach IMO is a great car. It's a conscious effort by Ford to put out a car that performs well in the quarter-mile. Gearing is very good, tons of lowend power, and a solid rear. I wish GM would be so considerate of it's buyers as to do something like that.

Sounds like a stuck up Mach1 owner to me that doesn't like LS1's... I don't hear of too many Mach owners doing crap like that but I guess there are always a few.. I would find out what mods he has first and then race him.. If he just has a mid pipe and catback I wouldn't worry to much because those combos only give these cars about 10 rwhp.. Now if he has gears like 4.10 or 4.30's, you better watch out, those mods make a huge difference.. I would just race him and see what he has, he most likely can't drive worth a crap anyway and since your car is going to be an auto you do have an advantage of not having to shift and blow the tires off the ground.. JMHO from a Mach1 owner..

Yep I lost most of my respect for GM once they started to put a crappy S-10 7.5" rearend in a LS1 that comes with 345 flywhp stock.. Just doens't make since.. But neither does the Mach1 that comes with 28 spline axles and differential and puts out an under rated 305 Flywhp, and the dang exsplorers come with 31 spline axles and differentials and only making 200 flywhp.. Just doesn't make too much since to me.. But what do I know I just drive the car..
