Yes I am sure...this is my second LS1 build...different blocks....first with Billet caps. the caps are on the proper way. The bearing "tabs" are opposite each other as they should be. The caps are also on the way they came from Callies. I also confirmed this with my machine shop....who supplies LS1 motors for a race team overseas...

You need to call Callies tomorrow. Looks like the bearing tang is off by .050 or more. OR, you have the wrong bearings to begin with.

One other thing, make sure the bearings are on the right side, as there is an upper and lower stamped on the back of each shell.

I used the same part number bearings on my last LS1 build (different block). They are all stamped with the same number and lower/upper on the halves. They were positioned correctly.....checked and rechecked.

I know....very odd. I have built many motors and never seen this before.

I will call Callies tomorrow.....they probably wont know what I am talking about...but I will send pictures. Things like this always put a bad taste in my mouth...especially with these resleeved blocks. I am a little worried that I may have problems with the block .....I am building a twin turbo C5...61 mm dual turbos.....on a 427ci.....have about 40,000 invested.......Would like to go with a C5R block....but none around,.....also they dont have much boring that can be done for future rebuilds.....

Default steel caps

Tom, are the caps doweled to the block? If not you can probably tap them back or forth a bit to better line up the bearings. The thrust bearing halves must line up regardless.

Tom,
Call Brook..... being a salesman, he won't know what your talking about, but he'll put you through to me. A couple of minutes on the phone will surely put your mind at ease. ..... or better yet, I'll have him call you, so you won't have to pay for the call.
