Hotcam Owners inside please
I've done numerous searches but haven't really found the information I was looking for on the hotcam and racing with it. Could you please provide the following information:
Launching RPM
Shift Points
1/4 ET and MPH
Gears
exhaust.
Tires (street/DR/slicks)
I am going to track this weekend but due to how busy they have been the past couple of test and tune nights I have only gotten in 3 runs. This will be my first with the hotcam so I want to make the best out of every run.
Please stay on topic with this thread. It seems every Hotcam thread turns into a bashing.

I will tell you outright I am not the worlds best drag racer, and am not willing to break everything possible just to run a number. The couple of times I went to the track I was on street tires, and just could not 60' the car. I have not been back with drag radials. With 3.42's, street tires, leaving at idle, and with weather in the upper 90's the car ran low 13's at 110+. On a very humid night with 4.10's and the Street Twin the car would just completely blow off the street tires, and my 60' times fell from 2.2x to 2.4-2.67, and made for terrible times. The car trapped over 111. I have my shiftlight set for 5700, and figure the shifts come at 6000-6100. My power peak is at 5950.

Launching at 5500 rpm, side stepping the clutch on ET streets. Cutting 1.7x 60's pretty consistently and shifting around 6300 rpm. Car has run a best of 12.08 @ 117.67 mph and consistently runs low 12's. Not the best driver in the world but I do drive the car pretty hard and it runs strong for a small cam.

Tires will be a huge factor in you launching rpm!
Street tires are good for high 12's driving it right, lanching off idle and easing it out of the hole. You will need DR's or better for lower et's.
Good luck!

Well, I launch around 3-3500 on street tires, w/ a little clutch slip and am by no means a great drag racer, best run so far:
2.0 60ft
12.69 ET
110.6 mph
shifted @ 6200
Corsa Exhaust w/ LT's ORY
3.73 gears

I have cut mid 12s in stock form with an A4 and DR and 60' a 1.71 leaving off idle. You could be looking at some low 12s. My 98 M6 car went 11.98 with a cam only on slicks with a 3600 rpm launch. Post up and let us know how it runs.
