Default Thermostates

I just installed a 160* hypertech thermostate and loaded the 160* cooling fan program with the hypertech programmer. I only saw maybe a 5* drop on the temp gauge it was just past 210* now its just before, but it does take a little longer to get to the temp than before. Shouldnt i see at least a 15-20* drop from stock (like the gen1 engines do). I even loaded the 180* program but it didnt make a differance. Any help would be appreciated. Thx in advance.

No, it hangs just under the center line, but that was a lot better than before. When does you fan come on. Mine's ON=185 OFF=175; I can definitely hear the improvement in the exhaust note...

I know the 98's have sweeping guage which i like better.
I have 00 an my guage has 3 positions cold ,normal ,hot.
an my guage sits just below the 210 at normal operating temp which is 185.
oh an i do have a 160 T-Stat,had to autotap to find out my real temp.

You can hear over that exhuast, no i wasnt aware that there was a diff or i would have listened for it. Acording to hypertech:
Fan 1 on/off at: 184°F/175°F
Fan 2 on/off at: 194°F/185°F
Acording to this do both fans ever run at the same time?
I have a '88 iroc that showed 20* cooler on the gauge from stock with this mod, why doesnt he LS1 guages show the same way?

FYI the temp gauges on 99-02 f-body's don't work really. The 98's are the only ones that show close to what temps your car is actually running at. If you ran Autotap, I'd be willing to bet you would see a lot cooler temp than a hair below 210.

I'm not sure. I know there is a thread somewhere not too long ago (proly on first or second page of either "new enthusiest" or "internal engine" section) that talks about doing this. I don't think there has been a conclusion yet to it.
