Default Fans turn ON/OFF not like I set it???

When I read the coolant temperature with AutoTap I see the fans turning on and off at different temperatures than what I set using LS1 Edit. It's not way off, only 2-4F but still I'm pissed!

Why?

The error is different for stage 1 or 2: if I set 200F to turn off stage 2 and also 200F to turn on stage 1 there will be a different error. Like it turn on stage 1 at 198 and turn off stage 2 at 196.

Is it the 98 PCM? is it Autotap? Is it LS1Edit? Am I getting too complicated?

Thanks for any comment - Stefano

Your upset about 2-4*? I would say you are being too picky. If its too high, then lower it to compensate for the difference.

it is probaly ls1edit not converting everything exact. Or there is some delay on the fan turnon's.

I'll be tuning my 98 car later today and i'll test the fan temps, but i don't have edit to use.

Yes, I'm compensating. But you know how it is: load the program, scan it, load another program... And only for the stupid tempearture.
THe error isn't linar: in a certain range it's more and 5F away it's higher...

OK I'm picky and in a bad mood too...

Also the car is finished: mechanically in a wonderful shape and (to me) the tune is done. Now I have nothing to do and I'm looking for every little thing.
A little leak here... 2F off there... a smashed fly on the windshield...
Should I start a new project?

Hi Chad! How is it going?
As I wrote I'm bored to death because the car is finished and runs great, so I'm getting picky about everything:
-leaking front engine seal
-decals a little ruined
-leather seats look old
-rusty differential cover
...

Should I buy an old Corvette and make a 100% restauration? Or increase the boost on my LS1 and start to solve all the involved problems?

Still running SD without O2's?
I think you used to tune with HPTuners (?), how is it with EFILive?
I still stuck with Edit and Atap. Those are raw tools but with Excel and some calculations it works. Not so fancy as the newer tools. of course

Yup. I'll just say that I like EFI live 10x better and wish I would have switched long ago. Night and day difference.
