Default Install $375+ !?!?!

I went to a local speed shop, and this is what i was quoted. I consider myself pretty mechanically inclined, would I be able to install one myself, or is it very technical?

If you have common mechanical sense and basic electrical knowledge, you can install everything yourself no problem.

I don't think that $375 is real outragous if it's a super clean install.

The hardest part is the wiring. And there is a tons of info on here and people who can answer any questions you might have concering that portion. No way in hell I would pay that type of money to have nitrous installed. Just take your time and you should have no problem doing it yourself.

And I only agree with that 'cause I took days making sure my wiring was done neatly. I think as long as you truly understand how a relay works, you'll have ZERO problems. That's the only thing that was holding me back when I first bought my kit last Dec.

I could probably do the basic kit, but with switches in my ashtray, bottle heater, remote openers, FPSS, Electric Gauges, etc etc etc

I am not going to mess with it. For all the stuff I have $500 or more would be about average since it would likley take a good 6-8 hours.

Who knwos I might attempt it, but with all the stuff that could go wrong. I aint gonna do it. Again if it was just the $500 kit, then it is n't too hard, but again I would want to get it tuned and dyned to check for everything.

I want a nice clean install.

Here is what I have:

I have NX Wet Kit dual nozzle
FPSS
NX Bttl Opener
NX Heater
BMN Window Switch
NX switch panel for ashtray
NX Electric N2O Gauge for ashtray
Bottle Gauge
NX Filter
Nitro Daves Big Purge Kit

Man if someone can do a complicated install like this in 6/8 hours, I'd be amazed. I don't rush my installs, and takes days if not a week to do it right, for a DIY like me that takes thinking breaks about every 20 minutes.

I agree Robert. If its just a basic kit like a 5177 kit with no accessories it doesnt take too long...maybe 4-5 hours depending on how fancy you get with things like switch placement and bottle mounting. But on an elaborate kit it will usually take me days.

With things like gauges window switches, fpss, and all the other add ons...if your getting it installed for $350 Id say thats a bargain...as long as it was a CLEAN install.

But the cleanest installs are always done by the owners of the cars.

The install is $375, the accesories purge, gauges, other add ons $75 a piece thats when I first contemplated doin it myself. Reminds me of that new movie 40 yr old virgin "We have a whole aisle of do it yourself."" DO you like to do it yourself?"
