If you want a m6, wait for a m6. F-bodies are easy to come by these days so I see no reason to compromise. If you cant save up money like you said then a swap is not likely to happen for you and you will be left with a car your not 100% satisfied with.

i was in the same situation as you. i bought a beautiful 2002 A4 camaro SS, even though i really would have preferred an M6. long story short, i sold the camaro after 6 months and bought a 2000 M6 Formula. had i bought an M6 in the first place, i would have saved enough money to put on a supercharger. be patient, find what you REALLY want, and you won't have any regrets.

Wait for the M6. I've owned M6 and A4 LS1 cars and if I had to get another one it would definetly be an M6 as there is nothing like the pull from 70 mph in 3rd gear in an M6. My A4 has nowhere near the pull from 65-70 like my M6 did. Also lots more fun to drive. My A4 is the faster car but nowhere near as fun. However, since I got my car tuned to firm up the shifts, raise shiftpoints and remove the torque managment it's made me alot happier. I've always heard that an A4 car would cut better 60 ft times than an M6 b/c of the lower 1st gear ratio but both cars cut 2.0s so no real advantage on launching as far as street tires are concerned. It's takes a damn good M6 driver to beat a comparable A4 car. However, a stalled A4 will hand most M6 cars their ***. A stall is in my future.

i wanted an m6 when I bought mine, but i bought mine new in 2002, I get a gm discount, and all the dealers i called would not sell me the car at the discount price, because they would rather sell the car to another guy for more money. But I found a place that had an 2002 ws6 a4. I wanted a 2002 ws6, but wanted a som and a m6, but I saved 7k with my discount, so i settled for the one i got, could not justify spending 7k more for the paint and trans
