Default Rod Bolt Contreversy!

I am really stumped, I have searched numerous threads and i really want to know what rod bolt everyone is using, i'm leaning toward arp, i just need to know if resizing the rod is and issue or if just a direct bolt in, there is too much 50/50 replies for me to make my final decision

If you check the rod bores after torquing to the desired spec with ARPs then you'll know if they need to be resized or not. However, this requires removing the rods from the motor. That'll be the only way you'll know for sure.

Others have just installed the ARPs to the desired torque spec and that's it and have done well.

It all depends on what will let you rest comfortably at night.

if you change the bearings you should get the rods checked, other wise just put the bolts in.

I used ARP 2000's and just put them in, I now have about 800 miles on the motor and have had it up to 6800 rpm a few times and all is well.

it's an 02' motor with the ls6 block, I remember someone saying that the 01+ models had better designed bolts is this true.

I did the arp and the rod bearings. With the rods in the engine. I installed them about 4 weeks ago and already made about 25 passes at over 7000 rpms on each pass. Holding good.

I didnt check the clearance. I wasnt going to take the rods out and have them resized so it didnt matter. I installed a new set of bearings. All is still good. Turning the crap out of it. Run every week end. Over 7000 rpms each pass.

i put in arps bolts. I have about 2k miles on it and 20 passes or so. s oem up to 7k. and some 7k street driving. My clearances were about .0015-.0020" after the arp bolts. a bout the same as before. T hat doesnt mean the rod isnt misshapped but i felt a bit better.

Id rather wear the life down of the engine a little by misshapped rod. Than throwing another rod in the side of my block.
