Wow dealerships are lame...
...and so are the salesmen. I finally find a TA in my area and go check it out today. 2002 WS6 6spd 40k miles...for $27 grand, wow. Great looking car, though. The saleman first tried to tell me it was a Firehawk, which it wasn't. Then he said that it was better and faster than Formulas...wow, dumby. If that wasnt enough he then tells me how the 2002+ TA's were better than the 2002 and below Firehawks. Of course I set him straight and tell him how they stopped making them in 02. When it got down to it I said I'd pay about 18 maaaybe 19grand for that car and he laughed and I told him there was no way he would sell it for 27 grand. So the search continues....where are all the good LS1's???

Wow what a rube. I don't like dealing w/ salesman either. When I got my car they wouldn't give me a firebird lic. plate front cover because you have to have a front plate. Bastards. I should have haggled more but I'm happy with my car. Good luck on the search.

sounds about right for those retards (dealer salesmen)..god some people just know nothing about the cars they sell. I bought my 2002 WS6 with 40K off a single owner 45yr old man who knew nothing about the car. it almost made me scared to buy it from some of his answers to my questions. 19K is a good price for an 02 Ws6 IMO thats what i paid. he wanted 20,500$.

Id say MD is probably one of the hardest and worst places to buy a LS1. The reality of having to travel over 300 miles for the right car is more and more evident everytime I go to check out one around here. One year of searching in this state is too long. I'll just fly down to FL and pick one up in a day or two haha

i hate the uninformed salesmen. ive bought 2 cars from dealerships, and tried buying close to a dozen others and ive never encountered a knowledgible salesman. i know they are out there, but they must be an endangered species or something.
the salesman that i did like was the one i bought my Z from. all he cared about was selling the car, and he just threw me they keys for the test drive and said bring it back when im done. he stayed at the supplementary lot all day with me until the mgr. finally came close enough to my price.
just travel a little to get you a car man, dont give up.

Sometimes their stupidity is to your advantage. They listed my car as a Firebird Convertible at a Toyota dealer. I thought to myself, "WTF? It has a Trans Am front bumper?" I showed up, they told me they just got it on trade-in, and I asked what it was they were asking for it. They said, "20k for it." I thought there was something wrong with it. I looked over the car and test-drove it extensively. The salesman started to catch on, telling himself, "Damn these Firebirds sure is quick!" I did all the paper work and took it home. I got it mid 2003 with 9k miles on the clock. It's been incredible ever since. I don't think they had any idea what they were doing!

i wanted to drive a t56 t/a
so i went to test drive one
i brought my "regular" t/a,
automatic-equipped
and he told me that the ws6 has a racing engine
called the "ram engine"
and he showed me the difference between the airboxes.
then i remarked how the car wasnt too great off the line
he said,
"what?! this here's a stick shift,
it'll blow the doors off your automatic"
this was after i had the Yank SS4000, cooler and TransGO
true story!

Dealership, er stealurshit employees are often some of the most ignorant, mis-informed people out there. I love the six speeds are quicker than automatic statements.
bboy: you got a good deal there.
just keep looking, you'll find it. Took me MONTHS.
I got my 98 Z28 over four years ago (summer 01) with 32k miles for <$15k.

I see a ton of clean cars in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. That's a helluva ride for you, but I almost flew to Alabama for a clean SS, but I wound up finding a beauty right in my own area! Just lucky I guess. My '02 SS currently has 33K on her, and I've had her about 2 months. Just be patient, and don't over pay.

Check these....
Got my '98 SS M6 @ a repo place for $7500 with 57k on it , just make sure if you go to a repo yard you go over everything with a fine-tooth comb, as many places dont make sure everything is in perfect shape or works on the car

After extensive searching at dealerships and trying car Max I bought my '01 SS t56 from a guy that live 2 hours away. I paid 17,500 and it rolled over 20K miles while I test drove it. Of course now one of the dealerships has a 67 and a 02 camaro SS (matching) some rich guy died and they bought the two cars at the auction selling the 67 for 24,900 and the 02 for 28K (straightup BS if you ask me)

well...dont use dealerships...they go high. find private party if you can. this thread kinda makes me proud to know my cars. my dads a dodge/chrystler/jeep dealer but knows everything...especially GM...makes me kinda proud. but ive dealt with some idiots over t/a's in 02 i looked an 00 vert a4 t/a and i had my 95 t/a vert there. the guy i guess thought i was an idiot. he was like...we'd take 29k for this rare car (it was black w/tan top...so not that rare, especially with my vert sitting right next to it)and he tried telling me that they'd give me 5k for the trade in on my "firebird"...he thought it was v6, though i pulled up with a hooker system on it...so it should be obvious...i told him it was a t/a and he said...ok 7k...to make a long story short, by the time i reemed his ***, he was gonna give me 13,5 on the trade of my car and only asked 24k for the trans am. i hate dealers who think kids are idiots...
