a lot of people spin the stock to about 6800 max with larger cams. some replace rod bolts and go to 7000. some think that is crazy and stay at 6500...

my limiter is set at 6800 and shifts at 6700...

a stock internal car probably won't benefit much from raising the rev limiter, but it could help your shift extension...

most consider 6500 safe, 6800 pushing it, 7000 asking for trouble, 7000+ here she blows...lol

i think that it will handle up to 7k but who knows how many times.. you should shift around 6700 just like mike said dont try to go up to high because little problems will happen..

I have a 6800 revlimit, and a 6400 shift light. I rarely take it up there, although i have banged the revlimiter twice on botched shifts.

Well I THOUGHT stock bottom end could easily handle a 6800 redline, with my shift point at 6400........nope, guess it couldn't.

I though freaky posted that it wasnt a problem with oil. What else spins bearings though? I could understand if it threw a rod...

Rev limiter at 6500. I have shifted at 6000 to 6400 at the track and can not tell a difference. My HP curve flatens out at about 6 to 6500. So the shift light gets set between 6 and 6200. I do not see how it would help me to shift any higher. I shift early and drop back a little higher on my torque curve.

My limiter is at 7200 and my shift light is at 6800, and I've done this with 3 ls1s in a row. I set my shift pill at 7000 when i race, 6800 day to day playing. Ive never blown or spun anything, but once i overreved and bent exhaust valves. Just my experience, but if i had the torque of a turbo id probably shift at 6500 or so. If i did blow it up id just go further on the next build, got some ideas ya know.

With my pewter car and the TSP225 I had the limiter set at 6800 and the car shifted at 6500, A4 BTW. I had a lot of pulls with that car so I'm pretty confident with that rev limit. I am hoping that the cam I go with in the black car won't peak too high so I can use the same rev limit for it as well.

low oil had nothing to do with the spun bearing. I thought it did but when I opened up the engine, I could tell that there was deffitinly enough oil, and that oil starvation wasn't the problem.
