Did a '97 "Firebird/Hurst" really have an LS1 in it? 12.99 on the list.

I'm thinking it might have had the LT4 in it, but not an LS1. I know there were some 30th anniversary camaro's with Lt4s? Didn't know any 97s came with LS1s.

After doing a little searching, it looks like it was a Lingenfelter 383 rated at 350 HP (I would assume this would be an LT1 383 then)

I think that was the SLP test bed for the LS1s.

And I question some of these numbers. There is NO WAY a 69 Vette or a 68 Hemi Cuda could out run an 06 Z06. Just think of the tires that came on them. (assuming these are supposed to be in 'stock trim'.....bias ply F78/14 red-lines vs 335/35/18 F1 Supercars)

did you see the ridiculous hp rating on that '69 ZL-1? which is basically an all aluminum L-88. 430! what a joke, maybe at 3000 rpms. those baby's pulled 550-600 easily.

Mark, read the fine print and notice those runs were done on slicks back then. As for the ZL-1 they WERE rated at 430hp to keep people from buying them over the 435hp offerings. Trick was it was 430hp at 4000-5000rpms. Run it up to 6000rpm and it was like 550hp. The list is compiled from MT and MCR mags. We all know that mag times can vary from reality. However, it is a list from the same mags. Read the disclaimer instead of just the numbers beside a given car. You will appreciate the info that much more.

yeah, i know the 430 rating was well below the peak number, chevy has always sandbagged in the hp wars. but was it really to sell more of the tri power 427's? or just not to let the general public know about the zl-1? I guess the general public would wrap a zl-1 around a tree in a heartbeat though.

Yeah, some of those numbers are absurd for a stock car. It looks like they took the best time they could find, regardless.

I'd like to see a list of cars tested at the same track under the same conditions, with price and maybe mileage numbers as well. Perhaps I'll do just that and post the list. I've always found C&D to be fairly consistent in their tests. Maybe I'll use them.

The second list is impressive but its accuracy is faultered but not really its just targeting a specific group of cars. The first list with the 3 cars that werent really producion cars but are called production is funny as well. 2 cars produced is hardly production numbers as far as I'm concerned, not sure what the rule is. But several implies less than 10 as well and they never even gave a definative answer as far as numbers either, so that can hardly be called production too. Either way its impressive list of automobiles on both accounts. One car I didnt see what that mustang that created to take on tour to Vietnam with the full blown huge motor. They made two of them and drop a cargo container on one of them at the dock so there is only one left. Same as the vette, 2 were created with the special motor. One died getting loaded on the boat to go overseas. Anyone know what i'm talking about? I think they called it the judge or somehitng like that, I know gto had the judge but this mustang had a similar or same name.

I think your talking about the special Blown 429 Boss stangs that the military and ford used as a sales pitch to some of our vietnam soldiers.
I saw a tv special on this, very cool to see a blown boss mustang raging on top of an Aircraft Carrier!
