2004 LS6 Valve Springs w/ TR224?
Well, here is the deal. I bought 2004 LS6 valve springs and retainers for $75 new... and I decided to get a TR224/224 112LSA... Will I have to get new valve springs, or has anyone tried this with success before?
Also, is the base circle on a TR224 right for a stock length pushrod?

Yes lower open and closed pressures-the XE lobes are pretty aggressive. Springs are something you don't want to cheap out on-get some good pushrods too-the stock ones suck!

"This valve spring is good for camshafts up to .580” lift. These valve springs can also be used with stock camshafts as a replacement for worn out stock springs. These are a direct drop in spring that will not require any machining and use the stock retainers and locks."
It just looked nice. But if the pressure isn't high enough, I should probably sell them, I know they use them with the GT2-3 but they must have lower ramp rates than a TR224.

More opinions are welcome, I just want to get this question out there and see if anyone has actually had success with it. Why? Because it seems to be a rather in-the-dark issue. Most say the springs are good for .580"+ cams, and make no mention of lobe harshness being a factor. Does anyone know what the spring pressures of a 04 LS6 valve spring are in comparison to a 918 or 915?
It's just info that I'd like to be put out there in the open for my own sake, and any elses curiousity.

i was running the same cam in my car 224/224 with 581 lift 114 i had the rev dual springs. a few weeks ago and broke a spring lucky for me i did not drop a valve because of the dual springs but if you keep the stock springs it will break and since you don't have duals you might drop a valve then you really be #%$% do your self a favor and get some good springs now before you have to buy a new motor later.

Anyhow, what about patriot duals with new seals and seats?

I have the TR224 cam. Stock pushrods are used (7.400 inch). Get hardened ones.
Springs...no LS6. 918 are my suggestion. Saw you asked about PRC duals. Bit overkill there. Besides, a heavier spring means more wear on the lifter and cam lobe. I've revved my car to 6800 with the TR224 and 918's with no valve float or stability probs.
As for valve failures.... well, the 918's (and most aftermarket springs) have a rated lifespan of about 20K miles +/- a few.) So...... take failures with a grain of salt. Never know how much mileage the springs had, or if the car was WOT with cold oil, etc.
BTW, if your budget allows, suggest titanium retainers (I used the CC 712's) Excellent results
