Default pinging at WOT?

I have noticed that my near stock 01 t/a pings at WOT. I have a lid and cat back with the predator. I removed the predator tune and it still does it. I would like to know how I can fix this. I will be installing headers very soon. I notice it at higher rpm's and this is a M6 trans.

Did you descreen your MAF?

Do you have a K&N airfilter? Did you clean it recently?

Do you run 92-94 octane fuel?

I had the same problem once upon a time...especially with the Predator tune when it was hot outside. I've since done a full tune myself, and haven't had any problems since. Eliminate all of the possible sources (including getting oil in your intake through the PCV system), and go from there.

YOu just cleaned your K&N - take it out, sop up all the excess oil, and get some electrical parts cleaner and clean the MAF.

Too many variables. Could be maintenance, could be your tune.

installed the predator tonight and backed the timing of like diablo said to do. I backed it of at different settings and I think it helped alittle bit but I can only go 10% at WOT. thinking about getting a tune after headers go on

Plugs would be a good, cheap attempt to fix the problem.

In general, 01-02 cars don't like a lot of timing at WOT. I use a modified Diablo timing table in my tune, and I had to back it off at WOT quite a bit.
